Dargle Farm Rocks!
Finally after a crap year health wise that has seen me stack on quite a few kg I finally competed without either a chest infection or back ache.
The Rocky Trail crew put on another great event with awesome weather and at a location which has become my favorite for these type of races. I like the track because switchback kills my dodgy back so I hate racing those venues but this track has some really good technical mixed with fast flowing and such different scenery & surfaces. I find I just don't get bored on a lap.
The day started perfectly with a spare car spot right on the track just before the finish which means I can leave the boot of the car open with all my bottles and the family can chill out knowing they don't have to wait for me every lap.
I started the race at the very back as I have all year so I don't get swept up going too hard too early which stuffs my breathing. Problem was I ended up wasting a few minutes walking early in the lap which as it turns out cost me a few places. It was weird that from the 2nd lap on I seemed to be by myself forth rest of the race. Not once did I ride with anyone all day. I was either overtaken or overtaking. While it was lonely, it was more like a training ride so I got in a rhythm and stayed there. My lap times reflected this with the last 4 laps all within a minute.
While I didn't turn myself inside out trying to push a hard pace I came away satisfied that I rode well without medical issues which has given my the shot in the arm I need to start training again. I'm looking forward to the Pleasure & Pain in 2 weeks at Coffs Harbour.

Glad to see your chest and back didn't come into play for race day. It's about time you had some pleasurable riding come your way.
