She's gone. Thanks all.

Here it is - the race bike. For sale due to new bike landing.

This is a Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper 29er Hardtail.
Its full Sram XX
It comes with full carbon 3T stem, seatpin and flat bar - pictured (unless you prefer an Easton carbon riser bar).

In full 'race' spec, it has DT240 hubs (in limited edition white) built into Stans Crest rims with DT Revolution spokes by the master - Greg at TWE.
If they are too light for you, I can provide the bike with 'training' wheels - Hope hubs, with Stans Arch rims, and some heavier duty spokes - again by Greg.
Either with carbon skewers, or Hope skewers.

Tyres - could be anything you fancy from the collection - weighing from 450grm - 650grms (semi-slicks, Spec Renegades, Racing Ralphs - there are all sorts).

Fizik full carbon Antares saddle (carbon shell as well as rails), and probably some titanium pedals.
In full race mode, it weighs 8.8kg. That is an XL 29er, with gears and a suspension fork. You really wont find any lighter.
Its a hell of a bike. I am sorely tempted to keep it, but need some space.

The bike (and certainly not the rider) came 5th at Dirtworks in 4hr 14mins. It was 4th at the Husky this year too.
Its been supremely looked after. Money no object. I've just put in new pads and a new chain after Husky.
Its in lovely condition.

If you are tall, and you want a nice bike to go fast on, then this is the one. This bike isnt something to take to the jump park, or the pump-track. But take it to a marathon race, and hang on.
The price is ridiculously low, but thats what its all about.

Obviously, in the bike only photo, the saddle is literally as high as it goes, and the bars as stem as low as it goes (and is also compeltely flat) with the saddle lower, and some risers, the drop wont seem as extreme.
The other photo features an ugly dude riding it with Sean and Jason at Dirtworks.

So where's the pics of the new beast?

Antsonline's picture

the new beast?

well - its still in a box as we speak, but it will be built pretty soon I reckon.
Then I need to make some minor 'adjustments' in order to get it a bit 'skinnier / anorexic'.
Once its ready, I'll post up a shot or two.

It getting a run out at Wingello on Sunday morning (if anyone is keen to join) and then Stromlo on the monday - I hope I dont break it crashing on Hammerhead!

Anyway - enough of that - where are the Lanky Sods that wanna buy this beaut of a race bike?
If it doesnt fit, just buy it for the parts and buy your own frame - its still a steal!

Discodan's picture

It's about the right size and a carbon 29er is my next purchase. I also know I've also got none and buckleys of being allowed to buy a new toy at the moment, it's a bit hard to justify when I've just taken a year off work Smiling

From memory you're 6'3 aren't you Anthony? At 6'1 do you think the fit will be alright? I normally take a Large frame on the basis that smaller is better for riding dynamics

Antsonline's picture

I'm 6'3 yep - but as you can see, ride a fair amount of seatpin out of the frame. As pictured, the center of the bb to the top of the saddle is 83cm.

Its I cant remember if its a 100 or 110mm stem (useless - sorry) but I'd say it was fine for anyone 6foot or over. Anyone over 6'4" or needs more seatpin out of the frame should probably look away.

If anyone is interested, I could easily set up a test ride.
I'm in no huge rush to sell it, and its a fairly 'specific' type of bike, so dont expect it go too quickly - so maybe start buying flowers for the minister of finance?

Hey Ants

Out of interest what weight does that race wheelset come in at ?

(DT240 hubs (in limited edition white) built into Stans Crest rims with DT Revolution spokes)

I am looking at something similar for 26" wheelset at the moment. Did you buy all the components and take these to Greg, or Greg supplies components as well as builds. My calcs that wheelset would come in around $1k for something around 1400 gms.

Am I close ?

Antsonline's picture

1440grms (incl tape and valves).

Greg can do either - he can supply or build with your bits.
His hubs are light so I'd recommend his hubs.
I tihnk he would be able to build a pair similar to this (with his hubs) for under 1k though. Closer to 800.
I tihnk you could go lighter than 1400grm for a 26" wheel, although not much lighter.

Greg is the master however - take his advice on wheel components and you wont go wrong.
