Rob's picture

Actually Hawkeye, you also should be in this list of unfortunates Sad

Yes - all have had incidents in the last couple of days. Jens broke his wrist (I think for the second time this year) and Danny posted a picture on FB of himself in a hospital bed - something to do with his knee although it didn't say how that happened.

Brian's picture

So what happened? I guess Andy's not riding at Wingello on Sunday then???

Logan's picture

Nope, in hospital with a Transvers Process on my L3 and L4 vertabrae in my back.

Basically gonna be in a back brace which I am getting fitted tomorrow morning at RNS, currently at Hornsby Hospital

philberesford's picture

a yes or no to being Scottish?

philberesford's picture

Ouch! That's awful news Sad Gutted for you mate.

Care to share any more details?

Mend well buddy Smiling

Brian's picture

That's not good at all Sad.

Is this a past injury or did something happen?

Logan's picture

Was riding to work yesterday and as I was going through the intersection of Miller and Blue Street, I was paying more attention to a bus pulling out and a truck behind, basically a car pulled across the intersection and the rider in front of me stopped, I didn't see that he had stopped and I couldn't swerve as I would of been hit by the bus or the upcoming traffic, so went straight into the back of the rider infront.

No damage to him or his bike. My roadbike is history, 4 clear brakes in the frame, so the silver lining is that I can get a new bike with the insurance money.

Brian's picture

Damn, on ride to work day as well...

craked's picture

sorry to hear that Andy,Hope you recover Quickly without any ongoing issues .remember when you heal Yoga is your friend Eye-wink

philberesford's picture

Yoda is your friend too. Now available on Bluray!

hawkeye's picture

... I don't feel quite so stupid, but geez, your neck Andy Sad I'm bloody glad you're OK.

I had a near miss like that up in Old Bar - a truck lunging in from the right while I was on the through road took my attention and I only saw the woman opening the car door in front of me out of the corner of my eye. If the truck had kept coming I'd have hit the door for sure.

Heal quick - I'll race ya! Smiling

Brian's picture

It's amazing the damage you and your bike sustained but the person you hit was ok

garyinoz's picture

After all the training too, good luck on the recovery!

I almost had a head on along the freeway yesterday with a cyclist not paying attention, ride to work day can be a dangerous thing Eye-wink

philberesford's picture

That explains why it was so busy, bl00dy cyclists were everywhere on my ride home yesterday.

GAZZA's picture

Get well soon. how long you off the bike for?

Logan's picture

Dunno yet, guessing a minimum of 6 weeks, probably another 6 weeks after that as well.

I need to get my fling entry refunded as well, no chance of racing that.

daveh's picture

Riding to work each day I know how easily it can happen with so much happening around you. It's a real wake up to hear someone have happen what I reckon is a close call all too often. Hope everything goes well, you heal quickly and get back on the bike soon. Bike shopping is definitely a fun consolation, albeit a very small one.

ps's picture

Thats a bummer Andy

Logan's picture

Got out today, got a brace for my lower back which helps with the support, now its a case of just taking it easy for the next 6 weeks and letting the transverse process knit back on to the vertabrea in my back. Got an appointment with the specialist in 6 weeks.

obmal's picture

As a fellow Miller Street commuter (40K zone my ass..) here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

brakeburner's picture

that's shocking news Andy, hope you get well soon mate.
