Seriously considering a bike off Rotorburn. Anyone got any advice how I can verify the authenticty of ownership. The seller does not have any sales reciepts. How has anyone done this previously. I would hate to buy stolen goods and have to return them and be out of pocket.
Thanks

What sort of bike are you looking for?

Either a 2011 Giant Anthem 29er X1 (Large) - New or second hand or

Second hand Giant Anthem XO or X1 - With XT or XTR running grear. Circa $2,000

Updating from an Anthem X3 (Which has slowly been updated with a few bits and pieces of XT stuff (Cranks, Chain, Cassette, Bottom Bracket)

Any thoughts?

The old line "If something seems too good to be true it usually is" still rings true.

There's no reason to not buy something second hand just because you can't verify that it hasnt been stolen, thats like saying i'm not going to get out of bed in the morning because i might be involved in a random accident and die. Just gotta have a little bit of trust that everything will be ok.

Having said that, if a seller has 1 post and its to sell something or they have no feedback on eBay.. then i'd be looking for people to vouch for him that are an estabilished member of the community i am buying from or i'd walk away. Lots of forums have put rules in place around this where you need to have a minimum number of posts or be vouched for by an existing member before they'll allow you trading access for this very reason.

My Fling entry on there very quickly, no problems at all.

is one of those Forums. You can't just sell stuff on RB with your first post
