The Recon would be fine as an upgrade over the Dart which is a heavy, flexi fork with poor damping.
Personally for xc use I'd prefer the Reba as it's a little bit better alround & can be got for that money.
All the best.

Cheers for the advice.my big question is do any perth bike shops actually carry forks in stock.havnt had much luck.i need to stick to around 100mm to 120mm travel .from what iv read the solo air seems the best option or straight coil.

any thoughts?

try Wembley Cycles

I found a pair of sid xx at a good price .thoughts on sid xx vs recon or reba solo air.dont ride over jumps and get airbourne so was thinking duel air would be a smoother ride.good to get experienced advise from riders that have experience.

Dual airs are nice. I had one on a belt drive 29er SS I rode for a few months.

The balance between positive and negative air chambers gives you the ability to set how firm or supple you want it to be over small trial chatter. Less pressure in the negative air chamber vs the positive makes a bit firmer initially, meaning less bob pedalling out of the saddle. More negative pressure means the fork is more plush and responsive to small hits.

i thought they would be a better upgrade for the money.will they be able to handle basic singletrack.i am addicted to foryths mills at the moment.only on the blue trail .dont have the kahoonies to try the black stuff.

SID's are a 100mm travel cross-country fork if I recall correctly, so if the axle-to-crown height suits your chosen singletrack weapon then yes they would definitely handle it.

My current dart 2 (ok but have to go)are 100mm so should fit nice.proberly a bit of overkill for my montori 3 avanti but im working on the principle of getting decent upgrade parts and when i have all decent equipment i will upgrade the frame.still have to get better drivechain and wheels. must admit i luv the geometry of the frame suits me great as it has a low topbar.

sid XX are basically the same fork, dual air with black box motion control, and a pushloc or poploc, i have both available, where as the xx may have a x-loc, which is a hydralic lockout instead of a cable lockout, the sid team forks are the second model below the world cup forks

You have just gone from one end of the range to the other so I'd sure hope you're seeing a difference Smiling

Take the time to set them up as you want as I found my SID Race forks were a bazzillion times better once I set them up properly
