Why I love mtb'ers and mtb'ing!
Went for what was meant to be a relaxing ride around the dam yesterday when my brothers chain busted out on the halfway mark to the dot. Not having a chain link we decided it was best if I continue on as quick as possible. A couple of k's later and my tyre blows. Looking like a numpty as to why the tyre wouldn't pull off the rim to chuck the spare on a very nice bloke stopped and helped swap the tube over and get on my way.
Cheers mate.

We love you too!
Actually, I reckon that's one of the things that seems to distinguish road cycling culture from mtb. Not to say that some roadies don't stop to offer help, it happens (sometimes), but with mtbers it's like every guy who passes you asks if you need help!
Perhaps not so important around the dam, which is quite busy, but some of the other places I go the offer's been quite appreciated on the very rare occasion I've been stopped with a mechanical, even though I haven't needed help. It's nice to know people are minded to look after each other.
Not so true im affraid.
Took my brother out on the oaks earlier in the year. He had a flat coming down from the heli pad and some bloke helped him change the spare over before I managed to find him which was good.
But on the Oaks single track he hit Pinch Flat Rock, we got the puncture kit out only to find the glue was gone. We tried waving down about ten MTBrs for assistance. Approximetley 7 ignored us, 2 couldnt assist us and finally some one was kind enough to give us their Puncture kit. We offered cash for it but he refused.
teeps ,so you will have a spare link and tube in future? Someone might need your assistance
I stopped and gave a guy my spare link in a race, it cost me a few positions but I felt I had done the right thing
I had a spare tube
But will definitely have links to go with it.
On this point, it was great at fling yesterday, that so many would ask "you ok?" to anyone and everyone at the side of the road. I had a rare puncture too ... and the very first guy past asked "do you have a tube?" ... awesome.
However, not happy no-one took up my offer to swap my bike for theirs... esp the guy on the S-Works.... tightarse
