Thanks Dicko, any news on @Antsonline? Not showing in top 10.

In the results he has a slow first lap, it looks like he took it pretty easy after that.

yeah my guess on his first lap time he had a puncture or something mechanical. 8 mins below leader looks unusual.

Fifth place, gotta be happy with that in such a talented field!

Puncture on lap 1. Dang it!
No spare wheels for this one (cant squuze the luggage on the flight) so it meant putting in an inner tube.
Not ideal really when you have the fastest guys in the country racing on. I knew I couldnt chase, and the tyre had a hole in it, so I cruised around after that, ensuring I got the points for a finish (if I withdrew I would get nothing) once I was lapped.

Jen raced well, but it was on the edge of her tech ability. The descent was quite something. The opening hill had people crying. When you see the elite boys in their lowest gear, grovelling, and desperate for traction, you know its tough.

Great course, really good fun.

Most of all though, I really want to get as many of y'all to race at the Awaba Nationals Round in March. Its so much fun, and such a good vibe.
Different from a normal 'clubby'.
From what I hear (on the grapevine) there is the XC on the Sat morning around a 5km loop, then on Sunday there will be an Eliminator (think 4X on a 1km XC loop) and also a time-trial around the full Awaba loop. Lots of racing to be had, lots of funny times too.
Get your entries in. The Vets, Masters, Super Masters catagories are all hotly contested and have a fair few riders, so you'll all get a good race. Unlike club racing, you'll be starting with only the people you are racing too - so no need to work out if you are 'actually racing' the guy in front - you are!

Jut coz it says 'National Series' dont let it scare you. Its about so much more than just the Elite riders.

Tough start to the series with a puncture on the first lap. I guess you will be all fired up for the next race. Awesome race for Jenny too, riding on the edge of you skills and coming away with such a great result is sweet. She will be a real force at the next couple of races. Well done to you both.
We would love to race at awaba but other plans have been made and I don't think family would be happy if we arrived late. Hopefully see you at one of the other rounds though.

The Stromlo and Awaba rounds.

Can't wait!
Bad luck with the puncture Ants!
Best get some downhill tyres for the next round?

@supagav - its fashionable to be late you know - especially to that sort of event!

Although Awaba is the local race, Stromlo also looks like its gonna be a killer weekend.
Rumour / Gossip is as follows...
4 events. Starting on the Friday evening, ending on the Sunday arvo. Obviously organised by CORC, so the logistics will be excellent.
There is of course the normal Cross Country, there will be a Super D, probably an Eliminator, but who can guess the 4th event? I have only heard it as a bit of a rumour so cant confirm....

BTW - there are some photos on Cycling News of the techy rock descent..

Worth a look - some good 'mid-crash' shots too!
