It was my first race so started training in August putting lots of hours in; I was hoping to get 3 hours so really stoked coming in at 2.53. I didn't know what to expect so was a bit apprehensive. but really enjoyed the race. Got my wife to make me a low fat high carb banana bread (she's in the food game) for my pre race sustenance and it was gold! No stitches or nothing and felt comfortably full and charged for the race. May need to get her to sell it there next year!!!!

I started about thirty meters back in the 2-3 hours and spent the first twenty ks overtaking, then found my rhythm behind some speedy crew. I stopped for water and fruit then back on it and almost cramped up showing off for the cameras!

Told my wife and kiddies I was hoping to do it in 3 hours and they got to the finish line just as I did! So good to see them after the torturous adventure!

i am hooked on it now and back training for the next race.

Good job - good first race result. Now about that banana bread - can you give us your secret recipe for the banana bread or is that giving away your edge? Coffee and banana bread is my choice of pre ride brekky except our banana bread sits like a stone in your belly and wants to revisit on the hills!

Hey Cromer boy! Try removing 2/3 of the butter from your recipe and replace it with honey. Make sure the bananas are super ripe, almost over ripe. Let me know how you go!!!!
