Mont 24hr - Female team mates needed
We have a bunch of teams entered into the Mont 24hr in March but are missing a few team members. We have a team of 4 and team of 6 (both female teams) that we are trying to complete. You'll be guaranteed to have an awesome time on and off the bike. The Mont course is not technical but it is fun, don't worry if you have not done a race before we will do a recon trip to Kowen before the event to check it out, and practise things like overtaking.....
So any girls out there looking for a team please PM me if you are keen or have any questions.

Yeah the track at Kowen is super fun. It's always great to see you chicks out there racing. I was really impressed with how many lasses were out on track last year, prolly more than I've ever seen at any race. Would be good to keep this up and see more of you next year. So come on, get involved. The Mont is super super fun.
Always good to see the girls out there having a go.
Thanks Phil and Hawkeye. We find the guys on the trails really encouraging, even when some of the girls are overaking them
At this years Mont we had at least 6 female teams entered from our camp, at the Scott this year we had 6-7 and at 2012 Mont we'll have 7 teams, assuming we get all spots filled. Some of the teams are there to compete whilst others are doing it for a challenge and soak up the social atmosphere.
Many think that racing is for the elites, but the reality is that elites probably only make up 5-10% of the field.
Surely there are wifes/girlfriends/sisters/daughters/mums out there keen to take up a new challenge in 2012???
At this year's Mont I passed a girl in pale blue and white kit on a hardtail up towards the end of the first climb from transition. Got stuck when this guy in front of me stalled on a log rollover and fell off his bike in front of me.
Girl in blue cruises past.
Got going again, got her on the next descent. Some guy in front of me dislodges a log on the next climb, it rolls down the track in front of me and I think "I'm going to hit that. :| " and sure enough I'm on the deck.
Girl in blue cruises past.
Manage to squeeze past on the next climb when the trail widens out. It flattens out a litte while later, I come into some twisty singletrack and see this nice berm on the next right, so I let of the brakes and rail it. Trouble is, it was just a pile of dust swept up by everybody else and I blow right through it and skid to a stop on my backside in the pine needles.
Girl in blue cruises past.
I overshoot a corner letting some elites past, can't get through the trees to rejoin and have to backtrack to where I left the trail.
Girl in blue cruises past.
Pass her again on a tech downhill and repeat the same mistake with another of the phantom berms. Girl in blue cruises past!
Finally get away (I think) and start thinking "sheesh I hope I don't do this again ". A few minutes later I turn into some fire trail ... and then realise that I shouldn't be seeing car tail lights up ahead and turn back around. Just as I get to the singletrack entrance ... GIRL IN BLUE CRUISES PAST!
The lights from transition start to become visible, so this time as I came up on the girl in blue and figure, well she's earned it and I ain't gonna pass her again or I'll do something REALLY stupid, and in front of everybody ... so I just followed her in and handed over to my next team member.
I'm sure she was thinking ... "who's that git whose ego exceeds his ability?"
its always good to see the girls out racing, rather then handing out the drinks or sitting with ruggies, go you good thing
unsure hawkeye if that is classed as stalking or not, but it must be close
Hawkeye, your story cracked me up.
You got 'chicked' - and all I can say is get used to it. It's happened to me plenty and I just smile when it happens now. There are more and more girls getting out and enjoying the sport than ever before and some can really rip up the trails. It is great to see more girls (and all-girl teams) attending events like the ours and giving the guys a reminder that they should work on their skills, fitness and attitudes. Go girl in blue.

A mate's daughter is on our team, and she is quick! I don't expect to do anything near her times. So, unless you're l33t, expect to be passed. If she wasn't on our team I'd be worried about getting lapped. How embarrasment...lol
