Tire choice

I have recently purchased my first dual suspension bike, however over he last 2 months I have worn down the back tire significantly. I do the majority of my riding around Manly dam and have noticed the grip that I am getting with the Rocket Rons is deteriorating along with the tread at a rapid rate.
Is this a more a problem with my riding technique or would I be better to go with a more durable tire. Can anyone suggest a better tire? I am thinking that nobby nics may be an option not that i need to stay with schwalbe.
Thanks in advance
JHT

What compound, or model Rocket Ron are you running? Schwalbe seem to have a range of compounds from grippy and resilient to downright adhesive and woefully soft.
Lots of people around here seem to find a Racing Ralph EVO compound grips, rolls and lasts well. I do for 2 bikes.

They are performance line, racing compound.

you just answered your own question , they are a race tyre not a everyday tyre , race tyres will wear a lot qicker they are only used for a handful off races then replaced again

What are my best otions for replacement tires. Obviously i would prefer a tire that has plenty of grip, won't puncture on the first sharp stone, and won't slow me down too much.

second the racing ralph evo. Running the racing ralph at the back and the rocket ron at the front for extra grip.
Schwalbe's evolution line comes in 4 versions though:
Tubeless ready, tubeless ready snakeskin, tubeless ready double defense and finally tubeless. This is in order of weight. The plain tubeless ready's sidewalls are paper thin and will cut on anything resembling a rock. It's insanely light though. Snakeskin is an extra sidewall protection and double defense is snakeskin+puncture guard. That one is still lighter than the tubeless and is what I'm testing at the moment. There are a couple of posts on how to inflate it tubeless Smiling
Personally I like the schwalbe tyres and their system. Choose your grip and tread between nobby nic, rocket ron and racing ralph and then decide how light you want them ( or how long you want them to last)
