National Series #4 - Awaba
Just up Jenkins Road from corner with Mount Faulk Road.
This is final round of the 2011/12 National XC Series.
Its the first time it will be held at Awaba, and I really want to try and encourage as many of you as possible to give it a crack.
We dont have a proper state series (yet.....) so some might worry that there is a big jump from club level racing up to National level racing.
Far from it.
At National level racing there are age-groups. Its not just A / B / C / D grade. So you can be sure you will be racing people of a similar vintage. That means the track will be clearer for you.
The races arent any longer than a clubby either - same 90mins (ish) of racing. Unless you are winning club rounds, the National level wont feel much different. Someone else will win, and you will have a battle with someone in front, behind, next to, you.
It would be wonderful to get as many people out to this race as possible - to show how much we want a state series, to show our support for Hunter Valley MTB club (who have really stepped up to host this) and to show that Sydney enjoys XC racing.
The format of the weekend will be fun - with the XC event sandwiched between other events (Super D, Eliminator etc) all for the one entry fee. Its like a mini stage race.
Make a weekend of it, race hard, sit back and watch whomever will be representing Australia at the London Olympics battle with people who also want that slot. Its the last (official) chance for them to impress the selectors.
On top of that - the weekend also hosts the Gravity Cup (Downhill) and you will get to see literally the best riders in the world battling - Sam Hill, Troy Brosnan, Mick Hannah, Jared Graves - all will be there. Watching those guys is an incredible experience.
Come on - get yourself an entry, pack an esky, and make a big weekend of it.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

I'm a maybe at this stage although looking at the calendar this would have me away every weekend in March.
Thats the perfect reason to rest up in April before hitting Convict 100!
(says the guy with no family or commitments to mention!)
I'll be also heading down to Victoria to do the Wombat 100 in April. I have warned the misses I have a big 2012 planned but I'm not sure she realises how big
His missus is going to the races anyway, so for him it isnt every really a question about not being able to attend.
yeah - but try getting a day off training or a lye-in at my place!
