Merry Xmas, eh? - someone stole our bikes
Hi All,
We've gone to our garage to head out for final Xmas shopping today and our his and her GT Avalanche 3.0 disc braked (entry level - but whole loads of fun for us) are gone. They've been in a garage in Crows Nest behind our car in an under building car park.
The bikes are a SM Orange/black/grey GT Avalanche 3.0, and a red/white GT Avalanche 3.0 with Shimano SPD pedals.
We'd been looking forward to heading out West toride Kinross anf then spemd a day pedalling around Western Plains zoo, followed by another run up the coast to ride Kiwarrak and to and from the beach. A holidays busted - not cool.
We've called the local constabulary who are coming todayu to attend, but if anyone sees or hears the descriptions above online, please PM me.
Cheers and here's hoping!
Greg

I had 3 bikes totalling $30k stolen in similar circumstances. I feel for you!
When you do get replacements think about getting good motor bike cable locks and locking them in the garage. I also fitted an alarm system to the garage with a sim card fitted so it calls my mobile when broken into. It only cost around $250 for the system. Put a couple of alarm stickers on the garage door even if you dont fit the alarm. It keeps them away!
Is it one of those buildings with the garage doors with the see through wire mesh?? Mine was I also fitted a silver tarp behind the door so no one could look in. Keep those prying eyes out!
Absolute scumbags. I hate that people steal stuff it really gets on my goat. Some good info on security tips though reckon I'm gonna install an electric cage around my bikes so any thieves get what they deserve should they try their sticky fingers!
Hope you find the bikes mate.
Are really not that secure, we had a spate of thefts in Hornsby recently. We keep our bikes in our apartment in the spare bedroom. I find that these secure garages are just not that secure.
Bad luck, keep an eye on eBay etc, you never know they might turn up.
Had same problem when I lived at complex in Rocklands Road, Crows Nest.
Ended up keeping bikes in the lounge. Unfortunately Crows Nest seems to be a tempting target area. My insurance premiums dropped after moving.
My bikes have now been kicked out in new place and have beefed up security cage in new apartment. Blanked out cage with tarps so can't see in and also bought a stick welder and added extra bars to cage which aren't visible until after they first break through the outer mesh and tarp. Also have moto locks. Unfortunately the SMS system wouldn't work from basement.
Had my bikes stolen about 2 weeks ago from basement storage cage. Will be using moto locks next time. have seen some with alarms which could be a good deterrent. The way i see it is that i might be able to get new bikes....... Hope you ever stole them have great xmas stack!
Had the cops over and they mentioned that they just came from a Lane Cove bike theft..... The north must be a great bike shopping ground for these dirty low lifes.
