Any members familiar with Wallarah Peninsula / Wallarah National Park?

I'm camping on holiday in the area and have done a couple of very rewarding recon rides. Loads of fire trails and single track although much is very, very rough and eroded. Terrain is diverse, coastal, beach, rock, gravel, mud, marsh, old sections of unused highway. Even discovered WWII fortifications at the top of a big hill near Catherine Hill Bay.

I'd rate the state of the trails as yellow, I woudn't know if that static ground water I encountered would ever dry up though. I saw two other riders, and one was from Dubbo! So it doesn't seem very frequented. Saw no hikers until today. It would not be a good place to break equipment or yourself.

Hard to believe nobody here has ridden Wallarah, although I did seem to have the trails to myself as a cyclist. I had a brilliant time on repeated rides. I rode from Murray's Beach to Catherine Hill Bay, nearly all on management and single trail in a large loop, rarely on recovering the same territory.

Perhaps you guys are guarding a secret, but it seems an undiscovered treasure and has the green light for cyclists from NPWS.

Maybe this is the wrong forum or section, is there a Lake Maquarie / Central Coast Club that I've not found?

I'd highly recommend this area to experienced riders, take plenty of water, a phone and a GPS and go have some fun.

If anyone is interested I can probably post the route maps.
