Chain Lube
Just wanted some advice on Chain lube. I cleaned my bike this afternoon after doing a couple of laps around Awaba on the weekend and a lap around the Dam this arvo only to find my rear derailleur wheels, chain and cassette full of dirt and grit (yes I know I should have washed it after the weekend).
Given that Awaba was completely dry on the weekend and the were only a couple of puddles around the dam this arvo, I am thinking my current lube is attracting more dirt than it probably should. The lube I am using was suggested by my LBS as an alround lube for wet and dry conditions.
My question would it be better for my bike to use a wet and a dry lube depending on conditions, if so how wet does it need to be before using a wet lube?

I use this in all conditions and have never had any issues. Wet, dry, mud ,sand....Follow the instructions on teh botle on how to apply and you can't go wrong
Another vote for Rock & Roll Gold here. Clean & seems to work well here in WA in all conditions (Dry, very dry & extreme fire danger dry) Oh, & when it really rains I don't ride because it's normally accompanied by lightening & tree felling winds!
My vote is for SQUIRT...which is a dry lube. I've been using it for years now and am completely satisfied with this product. My xtr chain loves it! It comes in a small bottle and a much bigger workshop size bottle which is a big saver. They also support a few of the local races and sponsor the Fling.
I have tried heaps of different lubes and found none better than Purple Extreme. It's a great all rounder.
Yeah I bought some Squirt at the Fling a couple of years back and I agree that it was very good.
or the Milk one they were giving away at the Mont last year.
pro link for me. I clean and relube after every 3 rides. Simple job. Cover chain with dishwashing liquid, go over it with a tooth brush, rinse repeat, and then re lube.
I've dfound that the more that you clean and relube the chain, the longer the drive train lasts, then, the quality and type of lube matters much less
Thanks for all for the feedback, have spoken to a differnt LBS and they have suggested that my current lube is oil based hence why it is attracting excess dirt. LBS has suggested squirt as a couple of you have, they said that rock n roll was pretty good as well but squirt was their pick. I will see how it goes, thanks again.
My first try was at the Fling or Mont or somewhere and definitely impressed. It's more expensive than others and not available from Torpedo7, Wiggle, CRC, etc. (it is from JensonUSA however) so I happily go for Rock n Roll or Purple Extreme (which I find is hopeless on the roadie though) as a second choice. I like the fact that Squirt support mtb events that I also like to enter and they are pretty generous with handing their product out so happy to support them.

I went online, sent them a mail and they posted it to me....
