Child friendly trails
Any suggestions on which trails around the northern beaches are particularly good for kids? My eldest daughter is 8 and really keen to get out mountain biking. We sometimes ride parts of the dam but in general it's too technical and hilly. Any suggestions on trails (possibly around Terrey Hills) which are not too hilly and non-technical (but challenging enough for an 8 year old.
cheers
Barney

Single track loop near the telecoms tower (I think that is what it is) in Belrose
Loop around Narrabeen lake is probably not technical enough?
For an 8 year old I would say Narrabeen is perfect. My 10 year old loves it and it's too much for my 6 year old. Saying that, it could just be my kids not being particularly fearless (Don't know where they get that from!)
The reason why I questioned Narra is that I do the loop with my 7 and 5 year olds (plus the 2 year old in a seat). I find the hardest part is crossing the weir. The second hardest is keeping them off the greens!
Not taken the 5 yr old to Belrose yet.
Barney, I really recommend Bobbin Head to start with. Parking is good. The trail is wide, surface nice, flat and smooth. Next would be Perimeter starting from Booligal Road by the Japanese School and also Narrabeen especially the 'far' end section, Collaroy Plateau side.
Cheers

cheers all.
I already ride narrabeen with her (although not sure I know the Collaroy Plateau part) and she loves it but needs more of a challenge. Bobbin Head and Perimeter would be good, also the xc loop at Belrose.
Centre track. Great picnic/rest stop at the end before the return journey.
What about the little mtb playground at the end of Golden Jubilee Oval, Nth Wahroonga? Maybe a bit techie for a real noobie youngster, but once they get a bit of confidence....
Bairn Track on the west head Road has a reasonable level twin track and runs out to great views. I take my 11 year old out there all the time. Not techy at all but some fun sections
I think that skills park was officially named "Jubes". Planning to head up there this weekend, weather permitting - need to work on my downhill cornering
I'm also looking for rides for my kids. What is the loop in Belrose? Is it following Heath track or somewhere different?
Belrose is where I go for climvbing training ... not technically demanding so long as you keep speed down, but the climbing may not enthuse the young'uns much
