Introduction from local rider(s)
Quick G'day from a couple of local riders.
Recently purchased a new MTB with intention of getting back amongst it. The gf bought one too.
Living in Freshwater.
So if you see a couple cruising along on Anthem 29ers, say g'day.
History...
- Started in 1990 on rigid 'Dodsun' with thumbshifters.
- Then built up Diamondback (91/92?), very first XT rapidfire / nukeproof carbon hubs / 737 SPDs / Ti flatbar / Girvin flexstem... & Purple QR's!
- Rode Diamondback to death (well, not really - I still have it).
- Remember Yarramundi back when it was just a baby.
- First rode The Oaks on a BMX in 1984.
- Actually did the Blackheath to Mittagong ride, through waterboard area, when it was, errr, 'legal'.
- Got distracted for a few years.
- Now back into MTB...
Thanks for providing a great resource for local riders.
Safe Riding,
Terra.

Hmmm,
Between working 6 days a week and the rainy weather, it's not easy getting on the trails..
Have now ridden:
Bantry Bay trails (the legal bits).
Perimeter trail and Long Trail in Terry hills.
Bairne Track and Salvation track.
Did The Oaks yesterday (one way Woodford to Glenbrook). Most of it is in pretty good condition considering recent weather.
But the steeper final technical sections of the single trail are stuffed from erosion and are still waterlogged - may need a bit of rehabilitation once all of this La Nina rain has finished.
Not the best weather to be trying to log trail time on a new MTB.
Hope to spend easter up in The Blueys enjoying a lot more riding time (weather permitting...).
P.S. The Anthem is fantastic - and fast... Way faster than me.
Hi Terra. It's good to see another one getting back to mountain biking. It's is just such huge fun, everyone should be doing it. (Okay, not really. Leave some space for us. )
Kudo's to you for getting out for a ride this weekend. I've been wanting to do the Oaks again, but the rain does sort of put a damper on!
Then again; you did it, so perhaps one of us - not you - needs to man up a bit?
See you out there one of these days; I ride a silver ScottUSA ProFlite custom build HT, otherwise blue Jamis Dakar XCR Pro dually.
Cheers, Adrian.
I can tell you there is offical plans for the Oaks currently being underway, we are waiting on the offical announcement and then due process etc...
Thanks for replies.
Trying to get out on the bike as much as possible but also mindful of not buggering up the tracks, so choosing tracks that drain well and only riding after a couple of dry days. Still need to learn the bike more, fine tune it and try to grow into its high level of ability.
Interesting about plans for Oaks. Are you talking about a working bee / community effort?
Safe riding!
BMORC has done 2 working bees so far with NPWS on the Oaks. NPWS had been consulting with an external contractor. This is a good thing.
