Jubilee Park Track Conditions

Hi Everyone,

I am planning a skills session with 30 scout boys tomorrow at the Golden Jubilee Park.
I do not know the current conditions of the park following the recent downpours and I am reluctant to let such numbers on the track if current conditions are close to subsidence!

I would appreciate it if anyone has been up there that can report on the track or can advise me on this subject.

Thanks!

Last time I rode there as few weeks ago after a few days of sustained rain, it was like a clay bog and we gave up after 5 mins. Tyres were twice as thick with clay sticking to them. I'd play safe and check it out early evening today after today's sunshine and make a call then.

Given the terrain I'd suggest the likelihood of it being rideable by tomorrow is slim.

A site visit will give you certainty, but with the amount of water that's fallen over the last few weeks (especially yesterday), it will take at least a week of dry sunny warm and windy weather to drain and dry sufficiently, I'd expect, maybe longer.

The highly popular pump track in particular will be vulnerable, as the banked corner design necessarily features compromises on drainage.

Well, that doesnt sound good at all for the youngsters.
Its probably best to hold off until it dries out.
It least I can give them an appreciation into how to respect the tracks after wet conditions...sun or sun sun on the day!
Thanks guys!

Your restraint will be much appreciated both by Council and the wider riding community, although I'm sure there'll still be some tools who will ride tomorrow.

May I ask a favour? Rather than simply saying "we're not riding because it's too wet", talk about consequences: "We're not riding because it's too wet and even though it can be fun, riding wet trails is selfish because it does a lot of damage" ... or words to that effect. It'll show there's a good reason, and you're not an anti-fun spoilsport.

Thanks again Smiling
