Mere words are so inadequate it's hard to find the right thing to say.
This will clearly be a very difficult time for all of your step-brother's family, and for you also.
We can only hope and trust that things turn out alright, and let you know that as a community our thoughts are with your step-brother and all of his family.
With our very best wishes. Adrian.
best wishes!
My thoughts and prayers for your family
I hope he makes a swift and full recovery
PM sent.
to hear Stuart, hope it all comes good
thanks all for you kind thoughts and words, it is greatly appreciated.
No major change to date although I have been told they have finally been able to stabilise the pressure on his brain so they are looking at reducing the meds over the next 24 / 48 hrs and then I guess they'll be able to determine the full extent of any injury.
Thanks again
His condition's trending the right way at least
Hope it all ends up ok?
Good to hear that he's stabilised. Holding thumbs that it's the start of a turnaround in his condition, and that he has a good recovery..
well I wish I was reporting back with good news but unfortunately not yet.
Whilst they managed to remove the drain from his chest late last week he has developed a chest infection, presumably from the punctured lung. The early signs of stabilisation in brain pressure seem to have been premature and it has been up and down pretty much constantly all week. He had surgery over night to remove a section of skull to help relieve the pressure. Until the pressures stabilise they are unable to even contemplate bringing him out of the coma. Its also now approaching the end of two weeks at which time he will more than likely need a trachey.
This is looking like it will be a long slow battle.
Take care people
Talk about timing, and he isn't even catholic.
He's been of the meds for a while now so in theory should have shown signs of "waking up" last week. Nothing at all except involuntary reactions to various activities the nursing staff have had to perform.
Got an sms from Dad this arvo, he has had his eyes open for a while this morning and has been breathing sans respirator for a while.
Fingers crossed all steps in the right direction from here.
Great news, thanks for letting us know.
hope it only gets better from here on
That's definitely a good sign! Thanks for the update; many folks will be following this post and wanting to see your step brother getting well.
It'll be tough for family and friends. You have our best wishes.
