Finished

Position (Overall):

Position (Category):
2 Had a good ride this year. No bike problems & the weather was mild. Tried to push hard at the start and was a bit more conservative towards the end.
Pitty this race is such a long way from everywhere. Very scenic course and a rough descent that lasts for 35k. Well organized event.

Hey Paul, nice ridin dude, would have been a tough race ,too much climbing, well done
Looks like that 'limited' training is paying off.
See u at the Wombat !
Nice result Paul. Well done.
Good result Mate!
Only two finishers and I was a fair way behind the quick guy.
@Brian, There's been no secret training, in the 30 days leading up to last years race I did 21 rides in 44:32:04 for 700.65 k. In the 30 days prior to this years race I did 8 rides in 14:06:14 for 183.20 k. The only thing missing from the Garmin stats is 7 hours on various stationary bikes in gym's. No idea what 7 hours in the gym adds up to in k's but its not 30 hours.
@Dicko, Strava doesn't lie and while the course was different in a few of the common sections I was quicker last year, should be back on the volume training bandwagon in the lead up to the Wombat though. From what I have seen of the Wombat area and trails it will be a tough day. What bike are you going to ride?
@craked, Thanks, I was pretty happy when they removed 5k from the second last climb. I like hills but 10K of uphill is a long long way when your tired.
Overall pretty happy though. I think I raced smart and got a fair result for my current fitness level. Must be something in this coaching thing, since I have been getting advice from a pro I have been on the podium two out of three marathon events. Been a bit lucky with small fields but if I follow the plan it works.
So you're in for the Wombat, Awesome.
nice one Paul
did you spot your nemesis at the start? was wondering if you got the chance to race him but obv. not
