Hi All,

Although a small probability of getting to ride this weekend, can anyone advise what trails on the Northern Beaches might be the go seeing MD is closed ?

Thanks

Cheers Doug

Hmmmmm.... good question. Maybe it's lucky that our Fling course has been locked in so such decisions don't have to be thought about.

The usual answer is that the tracks up around West Head usually drain the best. Centre Track, Salvation, Towlers Bay, etc, etc. Not particularly exciting fire trails, but better than a road.

Best to stay away from the single track at Oxford Falls which is easily waterlogged and damaged in the wet. Plus, even if the rain stops the sodden bushes there will make for a really wet ride.

If you're exceptionally keen and like sniggle in the pine trees take a two hour drive to Lisdale where it appears there's only been a very light midweek sprinkling since the downpour last weekend.

Hi Doug rode RH last night and it was surprisingly good there are some very deep puddles before and after the bmx but you can take the high line around most of them . The first climb where the dumped car is was ok as there has not been enough riders this week to bring the white clay up and the rest was all good even the xc loop was not to bad and down the drop off zone was good but watch out for some washed away bits .
I think there has not been as much rain there as down on the beaches , but that was before todays downpour.

We all rode Duck Holes and Centre tracks on the night ride on Wednesday. Hardly got wet and dirty at all.

Hmmm as for the Fling.....sounds like a mudbath is coming our way

The only dry spot would be Five Dock BMX bowl ;-} Made of concrete and pretty small but fun.

Get on a street/jump bike and cause some mayhem in the parks and streets of Sydney, the plus side to the rain is that soft Sydneysiders don't go out in it so you'll be untroubled by the pedestrian, no offence to pedestrians, I have been known to walk places when all my bikes are busted...

(Who realises that this completely ignores your question but this is my specialist subject and the election campaign must be rubbing off ;-})

i reckon ourimbah would be sweet at the moment, holds up quite nicely in the damp..and of course, canberra Eye-wink

time to bring out the lycra, skinny tyres and light bike.

Don't forget the obligatory post-ride caffè latte or macchiato ...

didnt get any time to get to Terrey Hills...newish bub at home taxing our time. Did a quick jaunt from home to Bradley's Head and back saturday and sunday. Used my mountain bike and no lycra but it was a road ride..does that classify me going to the "grey" side.

Hopefully with Manly Dam open again I will get a chance to do some offroad during the week or next weekend. BTW..how mad is it on the weekend at the Dam ? I have only ridden it mid week and dont fancy having someone launch off my back while I am walking some of the technical sections.

Cheers Doug
