I bought one yesterday from anaconda and i returned it today. absolute rubbish!! for reference it was the team deluxe stand. BUT! i managed to make one which happened to be exceptionally good. Post photos soon Smiling

mine has been ok!-instructions do say to use allen key provided to tighten all it all up-for the money paid it has saved me heaps on $ spent getting repairs done

The design of the stand was that the bikes bottom bracket would rest on the mount and there was a guide where the bottom tube would rest in. so what happened was the bike would slide straight out of the bracket because it was a completely different shape plus my cable routing didn't help either (under the bottom bracket).

Oh well.. I've managed to get away without buying a bike stand and my make shift one is great.

Just searched it on the web: http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Bikes-and-Acc...

At $150 it confirms my view that Anaconda is not the place to shop unless you like paying top dollar for junk. Sorry RobbieO!

My Torpedo 7 BT999 stand was 2/3rds the price on special and and about 10x the quality. Even at the regular price, it's worth buying. Sometimes I think people ask me to join their race teams just so I bring my repair stand (just kidding Eye-wink )

mine was usually $250 down to $99 & is better lookin than that crap(sorry for the bumsteer)-it has got 4 big legs & is very stable.

Yeah that sounds like a different story. And the only reason i bought it was because i was very desperate to do some work on my bike and even at $100.00 its still a lot. For that price i would go get a parktools stand. But im extremely glad i could return it and i did! And Robbie0 it sounds like you got a great deal.

Hawkeye, their sales are pretty good and they regularly, ie a couple of times a year, have sale price plus 20% off store wide. This is when you snag some bargains with them. The key thing to remember is, they are not a bike shop but an outdoor store that sells a little bit of everything to suit most outdoor "adventure" activities

Bargains like this http://catalogues.anaconda.com.au/portal/offerde...

could not get the $$$$ out quick enough when seeing it for $99 & as you said not a sole bike store but was suprised at the range of bike goods they have-at like 4pm on a sun. arvo & you need Shimano or Jetblack stuff they might just have the bits you need.

Got an identical unit to that "Fluid" brand magnetic trainer (ie, it is NOT a fluid trainer) from T7 for about that price, and ... yeah, well it hasn't changed my opinion shall we say. Smiling Pretty weak resistance.

$60 for something useless is $60 I could have put towards something that actually does the job it should.

Presently looking for a real fluid trainer.

all of the strength training you've done Hawkeye, nothing wrong with the resistance, you're just too strong Eye-wink
