Close encounter of the (other) kind... (Porsche drivers, you may not be getting any help in the future...)
After a quick lap of Terrey Hills trails we returned to TH shops to load our bikes back on our cars and have a quick coffee. It was difficult not to notice the fancy Porsche Cayenne SUV parked right next to us...particularly as it had the full set of Porsche car keys dangling of the bike roof rack - with no sign of the owner anywhere. Clearly a cyclist on a ride nearby - with roadie gear visible in the back of the car. After a couple of jokes amongst the 4 our of us re joy ride etc, we did the right thing and left the keys at the corner take away and left a written note on the Porsche's windscreen wipers re where to find the keys.
20 minutes later - (we were still chatting nearby with our take away coffees), 2 roadies returned with their bikes. We told them that they had left the keys highly visible on the car, and that they could retrieve them from the friendly Greek lady in the corner milk bar. So they went, got the keys, packed their bikes and drove off in their $ 150 K car ....without any word of thanks to us. Maybe they were just embarrassed. Maybe they don't understand the MTB'er camaraderie. Or maybe they are just a bunch of tossers...
Or is this the beginning of a pattern? There was this Porsche Cayenne driver I met at Manly Dam approx. 1 year ago...the chain on his new mountain bike broke within the first 2 km's of Manly Dam. I stopped, helped him out, fixed the chain for him and gave him my last SRAM quick link. He offered to pay me back and took my email address/phone. Never heard from him again....

Regardless of whether they are roadies or not has very little to do with it, that person just falls into the inconsiderate Muppet category of which unfortunately there are plenty of, in all walks of life.
Edit: Dont feed the trolls.....
Tosser roadies...
Less of the tosser mate! You'll find a lot of the guys on here ride road bikes.
but not because theyre roadies, more because they have a 100G suv so they can drive down their gravel driveway in bowral!
LIKE!!!!
More likely keeping up with the Joneses is stretching their finances to the limits.
You know the type ... they want it now so they go and get it on finance. Lots of little affordable monthly payments, one for the car, another lease for the second car, a couple for the bikes, several maxed-out credit cards, furniture loans, more for the dishwasher and high end kitchen appliances becasue they look good, a mortgage for the beachfront apartment at Queenscliff, and suddenly they wake up to the fact they're stretched and if they lose their jobs they're three months away from bankruptcy.
So I think it was very kind of you to give him that quicklink Hans. He probably couldn't afford the $5. Think of all those people you're keeping afloat.
wow! you can tell all that about thier finacial situation from what Hans posted? do you do private readings
I however hold the opinion that anyone who wouldn't take the time to say thanks in this situation is a tosser no matter what german auto or carbon road bike type they happen to be driving/riding.
the tosser realised he had no keys(to get full comedic effect) & started to freak out then let him know you saved his ass-in his weak emotional state you might have got some kind word of thanks & if not at least you got a laugh!!!
No, of course not. I'm just playing the known probabilities and personality type.
A vast majority of those things are bought on lease... especially so when the drivers are under 40.
Interesting factoid: Did you know that General Motors is not actually a car company, and hasn't been for awhile? The lions share of their profit is made on car financing. The production of nice cars that people like is just a means around which to facilitate the generation of profitable lease finance transactions.
I'm oversimplifying of course, but you get the gist.
You're scaring me @hawkeye - I'm going through your list: car, bikes, credit cards, kitchen stuff etc. and was getting pretty panic stricken when I realised I don't have a beachfront apartment at Queenscliff so it's all good, I have nothing to worry about
Here's an interesting thought: how many days forward could you survive without working?

Hans....you should have layed down a couple of smoking doughnuts in the road and then parked it on the opposite side of the street.
