I thought I would just keep track via screen shots of how I'm going after the races. I missed doing this after the Wombat 100.

After the Capital Punishment I'm in the top ten so for males Smiling

There's also a couple of other nobmobers there Smiling

**Edit 10th May**
I've now added screen shots after the Convict 100 of the overall and my category "Sub Vet Men". I've included the Sub Vet Men as this will be the only time I'm leading my category so I needed to record it somewhere Eye-wink

**Edit 4th July**
The last 2 images are the Overall Mens and the Sub Vet Men Category after The Husky 100ker. This round saw a lot of riders complete their 3rd qualifying race so the leaders board moved around a bit. There's a few NoBMoBers in the top 20 Smiling

**Edit 6th September**
The last 3 images are the Overall and the Sub Vet Men Category after The Wollombi Wild Ride. This round saw more riders complete their 3rd qualifying race so the leaders board moved around a bit. I'm no longer on the front page and have moved to 24th overall and 4th in category.

Something worth working hard to keep - nice one.

Brian's picture

Yeah but once the elites have 3 races done they'll be leapfrogging me in the positions. That's why a took a screen shot to prove I was in the top 10 Sticking out tongue

Nice work Brian and Wayne.
Im not expecting to hang around in 6th place after the husky that's for sure!

thats Great Brian ,well done, keep up the good work Smiling

Has anyone noticed the half marathon rankings don't include the CP. I've emailed Cyclenation but haven't heard anything as yet.

Brian's picture

They've fixed the half marathon series rankings and will hopefully have the convict ones loaded tonight.

Brian's picture

I've just added the latest rankings to the blog Smiling

In both all results and your category a sterling effort. Anyone who completed all three in essentially two weeks deserves special mention but to then go on and end up where did, great stuff! Must feel good to sit back now after completing them all. This Saturday it's a cold lemonade and the footy, Brian?

Brian's picture

That sounds about right. Basically from the Mont its been nothing but riding so I'm spending time with the family this weekend (also being mothers day) topping up my leave passes Eye-wink

evan's picture

My hat off to you Brian, well done.

philberesford's picture

I notice Jos is #15 too. and that there's only 2 of you that have completed 3 events. Good stuff!

I like that second list the best, there's some big names below you and Wayne, Lewis, Mather, English, Cooper, Flemming, even Mr Antsonline!!! Keep going Brian you're on fire!!!!

Brian's picture

The guy coming second has done 3 and they're all counting towards his result but its only showing 2 (I've emailed cyclenation). With 3 people doing the first 3 races, that's a podium so I'm claiming it for now Eye-wink

garyinoz's picture

Great rewards for all the effort. You should get the screen shot framed!

Brian's picture

Here's a great vid of the 1st three rounds. This was a segment SBS Cycling Central on Sunday. Take note of the names listed 9 minutes 40 seconds in Smiling. Only if they did that extra place Eye-wink

Shame you didn't get your name in lights, have to go one better and beat Wayne. Eye-wink

P.S I don't need a reminder of that bridge

Brian's picture

The 100km results are on cyclenation. Can't wait to see how the leader board shuffles around.

@Brian, are you going to stick with the aggogggooo for next season or will you be swapping over to a dually?

Brian's picture

I'm waiting for the 2013 models to hit the stores but will be going a dually. I love the HT but I a FS will suit me better.

ps's picture

Another dale, or a spec epic perhaps?

Brian's picture

No decissions as yet. I wouldn't mind having one for the fling.

There also is the Scott Spark, Trek Superfly 100 ad even Giant are bringing out a carbon anthem. Spoilt for choice really. I'll just wait to see what the 2013 pricing looks like.

With the bonus points of the Fling there is one big shuffle remaining. I know there's still a lot of fast riders with still only 2 races counting.

Antsonline's picture

Its all on The Fling.

In the Elite Men, its now essential for the Rockstars that Blairy doesnt win , or even come 2nd. I dont think the Fling is particularly a course for Shaun, but it was certainly a course for Dylan Cooper last year, and also Ben Mather. With Jason English probably racing the 'normal' Fling this year too - its going to be very tight for a top 3.
Rounding out the Top 5 in the Elite men will be a big race between myself, Adrian and James. Lots of fun!

Elite Womens - Obviously, Jenny has won the series - with 5 wins out of 5 races. However, she is desperate to make it a clean sweep and take The Fling too. However, the womens field at the Fling is much much tougher. Anytime Fitness are sending two girls - Jenni King and Peta Mullens - who will work together, and Jodie Willet is also making the trip down. Expect some real fire-works in the womens race. If you are out there, and you get passed by Jenny - make sure you give her a shout - she's doing it for NSW, and inter-state imposters should be aware of that!!

I literally cant wait for it. Something in my mind also thinks it wont be a dry day this year. I think we are due a damp Fling.....

philberesford's picture

Now why did you have to go and mention the weather? didn't you know Brian's the Nobmob weatherman? Eye-wink

Go Jenny! (and the rest of us lesser mortals)

Brian's picture

Yeah I'm not sure where the wet prediction has come from. Haven't you noticed everyone's lawn is already starting to go brown. There's no firm predictions yet but all the indications show a hot dry summer.

I'm not sure how accurate those rankings are. Certainly, in the half marathon series, it seems that you only get the points if you register on the site and claim the results. Therefore the rankings reflect those who are interested. I'm running 15th in the series even though I've only once finished in the top 100. That was in the Wollombi event, which appeared to have no impact on my score (smaller numbers than other events?). I actually slipped back a place after that race, despite it being my best result.

The age category stuff is even more random. It won't filter the half marathon rankings for super masters, which is my age category in most races. However, I'm leading the masters rankings by a proverbial street. Which is a joke, or should be.... Or are there prizes for that?? Eye-wink

Brian's picture

The category names are different in the series to the races but the age groups are the same. Remember, its your best 3 races based on the points you get for the race so even though the Wollombi is your best result you have got more points for the other races. The winner of each category gets $100. Below is a link.

Also, the rankings do only apply for people who have registered. Sometimes the result auto allocate and sometimes you need to use the claim option but its up to each individual to manage it.

Lach's picture

....thanks Brian, obviously I should seek out and read the fine print more often.

Conclusions from reading that:

1. Masters Men is actually my category (for these rankings at least)
2. I am actually some chance of winning $100, provided:
3. At least 2 people who are showing as having done 2 races either claim some other results or enter the Fling and claim their result; and
4. Those people did not or do not do very well.... Eye-wink
5. I probably need some sort of magic training program for the Fling, as I'm heading off OS next week (without my bike) and don't get back until late October! Must investigate a few more cycle hire opportunities while I'm away.....

Antsonline's picture

@Lach - remember also - the FLing is an additional 20% of points - so its more important and valuable than the others.

If you really do have no bike, then I can recommend walking.
Jenny (who I coach) has a habit of breaking her collar-bone. Last time she did it, we worked on some real walking for her (just like a bike plan - some fast, some long - but all at a proper pace). She dropped weight, and came back to her bike with almost no strength lost. Most specifically, she kept the endurance / distance.
All she did was some good turbo sessions (pedalling technique) and she was in really good shape. Most of this you can do with a hotel gym bike and some good walking shoes....

When I say 'long' walks - about 3hrs.
Its a nightmare, but can be done. She got right into her 'audio books' to keep her going!

Lach's picture

after playing basketball for 25 years and busting up my right knee a few times, unfortunately I am now in need of a knee replacement before I do too much more walking. If I wasn't able to maintain fitness and a respectable weight by riding my bikes, I'd have probably had the op a few years ago.

Additionally, at 6'7" its not always easy to find a hire bike / loaner that's comfortable to get about on, and I'm travelling with wife and mostly non-riding friends so I gotta be a bit sociable rather than disappearing on a bike for hours at a time. But I'll be doing what I can to ensure I'm in some shape to defend my "title" at the Fling... Smiling

philberesford's picture

Time to get out the Budgie Smugglers?

Lach's picture

...but don't swim well enough to swim long enough to get any exercise value out of it.

Brian's picture

Someone must have claimed their results as I've now dropped to 25th overall but still 4th in category.

Brian's picture

Now the wait to see how the XCM Series categories end up.

Brian's picture

As of today I have finished 32nd overall and 8th in category. Last year I was 54th overall and 18th in category so I have improved from 2011 Smiling

Well done Laughing out loud
