Only done Manly a handful of times and this will be the first time in the dark,

I'll bring up the rear Laughing out loud

I put on my clip in pedals last night and promptly fell and bashed my knee of the pavement. Needless to say the platforms are back on for tonight Laughing out loud

I'm keen to try it out tonight. See you there.

This will be my 1st MTB night ride, well 2nd if you count carring a dolphin torch while riding a fire trail.

Thanks guys

Volker thanks for the spot patch up job Smiling Appreciate it.

I think I might sit out the night technical rides from now on Sticking out tongue It was a pretty boring Bantry Bay bushwalk for me, So i thought I'd take the frustration out on the downhills *terry hills* style... but.. it wasn't terry hills Shocked

Thanks guys for waiting up for me and thanks Christine for guiding me through the smooth way back to the cars Laughing out loud My fingers are grateful.

Cheers,

Loz

Don't give up on the (slightly) technical stuff just because you fall off, keep at it and you'll fall less the more you ride it and you'll feel much happier and more accomplished than if you just relegate yourself to easy trails.

Falling off a mountain bike is natural, if you're not falling off then you're not learning and the more you fall off the more you learn to do it in a controlled fashion and not hurt yourself. Get yourself some knee and elbow pads and then unless you really f*ck up you'll come out unscathed nearly every time. Personally I'm disappointed if I don't fall doing something challenging at least once a ride ;-}.

Ta,
Matt.

Interesting first time at night at the Dam for me! The Dam was fun but Bantry Bay was interesting......it being only the 2nd time I've been there. Wrist hurts a bit after following Rob off a "large rolloff" but otherwise all good. Will strap the pads on for that track next time and give it more of a go!

Not giving up cos I fell off Smiling I'm just not technically skilled enough to ride Bantry Bay, so it was quite boring just walking for me. Happy to do Manly dam again, I was just stupid riding down that section so fast... I just might stick to the daytime from now-on thats all Smiling

Glad to hear you are OK Loz. Although Bantry was a bit technical for me at night, I'm in the lower end of capability so I understand that for many it is suitable. I was happy to walk the bits where my fear/intelligence would save me from doing something silly.

Cumon Loz, you have to admit the lights and orange flashes from the storm over Sydney looked excellent last night.

Of all the parts of Manly Dam, if any part jumps out at you, it's that bit that got you. You know, you on the ground in front of us coming down that hill may have been the warning that prevented me or somebody else doing exactly the same thing.

Anyways, sounds like Terry Hills at night is coming up and that is much better for the likes of you and I.

I had a great time, Bantry was a bit scary with some of the cliffs. I don't like being near a cliff at night on 2 wheels, regardless, the whole experiece was great. I'll be going back to Bantry in the day light one day soon to have a go at some of those technical bits, they were pretty good tricky bits that are not too far out of the reach of a noob like me.

In the same way as the roid boys (and girl) wait for me at the top of the hills, I don't mind walking down some tricky stuff that the Evil Keneivil's ride down.

Thanks for a great ride, and for brining my jersey Rob! I'll be 'tweaking' my lights significantly in prep for the next one, and bringing a few beers. Thanks for Coopers Bernd, very nice!

Given the ability, and at the moment frequency, of our collective group to crash I thought I'd share a little vid I came across today on that very topic.
Enjoy
