What a brilliant day

Back on the bike for the first time in a few weeks after an enforced break due to some rib trouble.

Too wet to ride the trails so I pulled out the commuter and stuck to the road. Took some turns pulling at the front with a couple of roadies on the way back from Terrey Hills. Lots of smiles from other riders, the unexpected bright winter sun obviously lifting the mood, and lots of other riders about.

If we could just get some dry trails, it would be about perfect.

I had a great day out on the roads too. Although I only have the one bike so I used my fast rolling XC tyres at 60Psi and punched out 65km in 2hrs 45mins, which included climbing Mona Vale road (from Mona Vale end) for entree and McCarrs Creek Rd both ways for Mains & Dessert Eye-wink I'm now a very broken MTB'er without even hitting the trails!

Lot's of happy cyclist smiling away and passing pleasentaries or maybe they thought I was a lunatic on a MTB Eye-wink

My Garmin average a stunning 20 degrees all the way too Smiling

I had a spare few hours (well, a bit more than that) and did a nice road ride. Stopped at PITS for a nice snack as well.

..I've just put slicks and an old Pike fork with lock-out on my Prophet so I can reduce the amount of road riding on the Niner. Did a loop down into LCNP (the road bit), North Ryde, Homebush Bay, Silverwater Bridge & back. A couple of good climbs on the way back and 55kms under the belt in training for the Husky (50). Heaps of bikes out, still a bit of water on the roads/ bike paths here and there.

@anyfev, that's an ugly climb up Mona Vale Road. Not so much the 10-12% gradient but the narrow shoulder in places and high speed limit. 65km is a good hitout on knobbly tyres

Brian, I expect better. That ride isn't nearly long enough Eye-wink

I kept mine short today - 37km in a bit over 90 minutes. Started to get a bit crampy towards the end Shocked , so I was glad I didn't leave it any longer to get back on the bike.

Looking forward to resuming commuting this week. I'm glad my 705 doesn't sense temperature - I don't think I'd like the number at 5am!

@hawkeye... The climb was surprisingly roomy I thought the only bit that threw me was a bunch a A Grade d$&ks in a WRX that thought it amusing to beep as they went past... Took my nerve a bit... Braindead p$&@ks. On a more positive note the ride back down again was awesome, got just under 70km and I can honestly say that I don't think my legs can go around my crank any quicker Eye-wink maybe it was a tyre choice issue Eye-wink

After speaking with the minister for fun and finance I'm retracting my comment about Mona Vale Road. It appears that it is too dangerous and quite rightly so Eye-wink

Brian, It would have been impressive if you rode Akuna/West Head on the way back.. Smiling
