A mate of mine from Wanaka who has a ski bike business sent me this link. I'm not associated with the company at all but it looks really interesting, particularly been able to change gears under load and no chain drops!

You'd think if youre going to the trouble of segmenting the chainring you'd make them expendable to get away with separate chain rings

Seems pretty awesome, only concern I have looking at the system from what I could see was a bunch of feather springs which move the segments, they have the potential to wear quickly, but I'm no mechanical engineer. Other than that if he gets it up, there's potentially a lot of upside, don't you think?

I think it's brilliant. I hope he gets the capital funding required to make this commercially available. I'd fit one for sure especially if he reckons approx 400Euro (AUD475) Maybe he should try Kickstarter.com?
