Can't wait for this event.

I presume all the lands rights got sorted out ok?

trailburner's picture

Yes they did with a big thanks to the Wollongong MTB Club!

I rode Appin this morning and the track is fantastic.

Hope this land rights thing gets sorted once and for all though. I see WMBC has had to postpone tomorrow's race because of further issues. www.wmbc.asn.au

Unfortunately there might be another change to our Shimano MTB GP. It's not confirmed as of yet but we would like to keep you guys informed so you know what's going on:

The Wollongong MTB Club who is hosting club of our Appin round had received the ok from the land managers to hold our race about 3 weeks ago but another instance within the land manager's institution has revoked that right on Friday afternoon. We are told at this point that the issue should be resolved on Monday but we will have a plan B in place in case it doesn't.

Pending the outcome of the discussions between the club and the land managers on Monday we might be forced to change venue of the final round of the MTB GP. The good news is that our alternative venue is one of the best around Sydney: the Ourimbah MTB tracks which are looked after by the Central Coast Ourimbah MTB Club.

This is completely out of our hands and we are not happy about it but with a Plan B in place at least we can assure you that there will be a race on the 29th. We hope you understand and look forward to welcoming you at the Shimano MTB GP finale...either at Appin or Ourimbah and we will make the call on Monday night.

At least there is a plan b in place, which Rocky Trail have proved they can change venues with great success. I'll be watching the Rocky Trail website for updates tomorrow

The decision has been made: we will be racing the final round of the Shimano MTB GP at Ourimbah. We apologise for this late change but with the land managers not being able to give us a definite answer we are forced to make the decision to change the location. The good news is that the Ourimbah tracks are in the best shape ever and we will have a rocking finale on our hands this Saturday!

It's a shame about Appin but Ourimbah is a great plan B. I did a club race there a few weeks ago and the track is awesome.

I've only ever ridden at Ourimbah once before and even then I took an OTB whilst planning my descent down first part of the trail... Should be fun!

Latest forecast: bit of rain overnight and dry tomorrow. Perfect conditions. The track is bone-dry at the moment so a bit of rain is actually welcome to keep the dust down.

Registration will remain open until tonight 7pm.
