Bare Creek Track, Mona Vale Road entrance

Looking at the Cascades trails database, I notice that the section of Bare Creek Track that comes down off Mona Vale Road just past the slip road (where Narabang Way joins MV road heading westbound) doesn't really feature much (erm, at all).

Is there a reason for this? Not ride-able? Formally closed to mtb? Impassable creek crossing? Fatally boring?

Looking to incorporate it into a bigger loop, if possible.

Had no idea there was the possibility of entering Cascades from there. Will take a look Wednesday if I get my work ride in

I had a look at this a few years ago and it peters out to nothing. What you see on Google maps/earth is what you get.
I have no idea why they've drawn a random line going down into cascades? There looks to be a bit of an impassable escarpment along the edge when you're up there.
Shame! Would have made a nice loop.

Google maps at it again. False hopes. Sad

I shouldn't be surprised, they did start a short war in South America getting a border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua in the wrong place

I had an old gregory's street directory that showed it following bare creek from about where the fire trail (heath track) starts to climb. There was even a track sign there in early 90's when I first went looking for it, but it's since been burnt out. I think the rubbish tip and the development of the industrial area put it out of play. The old street directories show it linking up with some other tracks ov the other side of mona vale rd that linked up with the ryland track and you can still see traces of that track when it's burnt off.

Heath track used to be a loop and the other half of it was briefly cleared for donwhill mtb use but is now verboten.

It's not a link up. I've done a reccy running down - there's a creek crossing then it goes into the back of some waste/settlement ponds. There's been some trackwork on the top part but then it peters out.
