Sydney's Bare Creek Mountain Bike Park
Bare Creek Mountain Bike Park - Sound too good to be true?
Maybe not. A few dedicated individuals have been attending hours of meetings over the last few years. It may be going to pay big dividends.
There is a meeting for riders being run by paid consultants with IMBA also speaking followed by questions and answers for riders.
Its not yet definite but it is looking better than even odds that riders may have $3.5million dollars to spend on a mountain bike park. This is after the completion of site preparation initial civil works.
This would form part of the solution for riding in the Northern Beaches and work in well with possible beginner trails at the Warringah Aquatic Centre, intermediate to advanced XC at Manly Dam with linkages to Bantry Bay and a more All Mountain orientated network at Oxy and Red Hill with gravity zones. Plus a few dedicated DJ sites.
The concept at the moment is a facility in the Northern Beaches that provides technical flow trails, gravity, skills areas and the opportunity for short trail/track riding and a trail head to access other areas.
We are thinking Valmont bike park as a template...
... for late 2016. Would make use of the Belrose Tip site.
Please RSVP by October 12 to [email protected]
The meeting is on the 17th around Forestville.

This is the WSN Belrose tip site.
It looks very much like this IS going ahead as an MTB facility, and here is a chance to shape what we get:
Hear about the proposed Mountain Biking Facility at Bare Creek Bike Park
Opportunities and constraints
Help shape the outcomes
Bring your original thoughts / designs / lessons from other facilities
Planning exercise
Suter Planners & IMBA key presenters
I've RSVP'd. Why haven't you?
This is massive. We have been crying out for something like this. Any more details on the meeting, like what time it kicks off?
I'd hate to see this as either a diversion or a reason not to implement the Bantry Bay trail.
So long as it's an additional facility it sounds great... and if it can somehow ling into the existing Cascades firetrail network then that would be an added bonus.
Looks like an interesting week with 15th October being the council session on the future of the Oxford Falls valley and the 17th to look at the Belrose tip site!
Bring it on.
I didn't think something like this would ever happen in my wildest dreams. Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I've always wished for something like this. GREAT work to everyone involved!!!
Thread BUT,,,,,
I really hope it doesn't turn out to be the waste of money like the Mtb skills park at Wahroonga?

Come along to hear more, we're all pushing for something much more like Valmont.
With $3.5million and guys on site from the tip with diggers and dozers to make a start it would be hard not to do better than Jubilee.
I also hear they may be looking to fix up Jubilee, they scaled back massively on the original proposal due to NIMBY's. The same NIMBY's are now converts and sold on the concept.
We're pitching as something very different to Bantry. Bantry will be XC to hopefully AM tracks. The aim for this is gravity XC to FR flow, plus a few short tracks and a trail head for other areas.
Are you going?
Unfortunately I won't be able to make as I'm on holiday.
This project looks like it's going to be a great asset to us all. With this and the trail currently being built by SNORC, there's good times ahead for us all.
Well done to all involved.
RSVP'd. See you there.
Hey guys, sorry can't make this 5pm is too early. I hope it goes well, this would a great asset for the local community.
This meeting is a chance to workshop some ideas with the wider Mountain Bike community in a positive way. This is a chance to discuss the potential for the site and make sure it does not detract from other sites but rather complement the wider North Shore advocacy projects in place. As Simon mentioned, this site will be focused on Downhill, Freeride, dirt jumps and a short AM/XC loop which will hopefully link into the wider National Park network. The $3.5m can only be used for this site. It can't be transferred to another site. So use it or lose it!
See you all there!
ANY UPDATE? JUST FOUND THIS TOPIC AFTER AN ABSENCE.
Hi all
We showed IMBA and the planner around Manly Dam, Bantry, Oxy DH and Castle Cove to give them some context before the meeting.
The meeting went really well and riders seem to be the front runner user group for when the site closes. It was a full house with around 75 riders.
It was run as a workshop with ideas boards. One of our landscape architects fleshed out a feasible concept on their maps to provide ideas for:
-advanced gravity track
-intermediate gravity track
-XC competition loop with gravity section
-shuttle road
-jumps, skills and trials areas
They have all our details and are working on a concept and preliminary planning.
We were told to be optimistically excited. It's not a sure thing but looking very positive.
