OK. Silly question.
I have size 26" 2.1 tyres on my MTB. Schwalbe Rapid Rob & Black Jack.

Do I get tubes size 1.7 - 2.1
or
size 2.1 - 2.6 ???

Apparently the Black Jack tyre is quite large for a 2.1. So I was thinking of getting the 2.1-2.6. But I don't want to get a tube too large.

Is there any benefit of getting one size over the other? Lower tyre pressure?

Thanks for your help.

Tubes stretch heaps so under size is better.

The only thing that stops them stretching is the tyre. When we are talking about tyre pressures the tube can't really contain them on its own. All it does is seal the air inside the tyre which is pressure rated. Using Stanz etc in tubeless does the same thing. Just provides a layer to stop the air escaping through the pressure rated tyre.

The 1.7 to 2.1 would be fine in a 2.3 or maybe a 2.5. At least in my experience.

The last thing you want is any chance of bunching or pinching of the tube, I wouldn't go over size.

Thanks for the explanation and advice.

Funny this should come up right now.
I just bought some 26x1.4 slicks for my mountainbike/commuter.
What size tubes should go in that?
I found 1.5 to 1.75 but reading the above this would seem too big.
