Where to find 10mm thru bolt?
I have managed to strip the thread on the QR end of my current 10 x 135mm thru bolt axle.
A search of the www has uncovered not very many replacements. I don't want to spend $70 on the DT Swiss one.
Can I just buy a 10mm bolt from bunnings?
I don't specifically need a QR, hex bolt is fine with me.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

hmmm - yes and no-
1 are you sure it's 10mm not 9mm.
2 If ten (or 9) then yes you can EXCEPT a 10mm nut normally has less width (and therefore thread) than the QR 'nut'. So maybe you need a wider nut. However, you must have at least the 10mm of active thread on a 10mm bolt. Also you would need an anti vibration washer (serated both sides?) and large enough to cover the the frames clamping area, so it bites when the lever is tightened.
3 Some QR nuts have anti-vibration pad in the 'nut' (o ring) but many anti-vibration nuts have less thread width than standard nuts.
4 I'm sure if you went to your local LBS (with whom you are friendly ) they would have an old QR nut in their junk parts box. Alternatively go down to a bike wreckers and get one there?
generally make sure you are tensioning the QR correctly, as either it was an 'old' nut or it was over tensioned when you closed the lever.
HTH (and soz if you knew all this already)
Are you looking for something like the DT Swiss 10mm RWS ?
Maybe try

or
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...
Coventry Fastners, they have an online store or a physical one in Aatarmon
http://www.coventryfasteners.com.au/coventry-fas...
Take your remaining parts in and they will have something to fit...
Ok, more details.
I converted my hope pro2 rear hub with this
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...
I had an axle similar to
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?M...
Which is stripped.
The above fireeye axle says its R10 specific, so would that fit through a hope pro2 hub?
Thanks
The threads on a QR are fine pitch in my experience... probably 10x1.0mm Standard M10 bolt/nut will be 10x1.5. It's possible that Coventry's will have a 10x1.0....but not probable.
Based on the assumtion it is the nut that stripped.
QR nuts are designed with a serrated clamp face and a recessed start to the female thread which take the stress riser of the threaded section away from the clamp face allowing the assembly to clamp up flat.
See if a local machine shop can time-sert the nut and get you going 'til a new part can be obtained.
Simply replacing with a torqued assembly (Nut-n-bolt) is likely to significantly reduce the life of your drop outs as well as risking distortion/bending of the slot.
Thanks slowpup, those were very wise words.
I would think to replace the assembly with a nut, bolt, flat washer and split washer to better distribute to force and keep everything tight.
What are are thoughts on that?
I wouldn't do it on my bike. Remember how chewed up the dropouts got on your steel framed BMX as a kid?
Thanks for the advice. I have just purchased

I will have to use a bunnings bolt until this arrives.
Maybe i'll use a rubber or plastic compression washer against the dropouts.
Try Bomond Trading in Orchard Road Brookvale.
They are a nut and bolt specialist. You can buy individual items and they are cheap.
Its best to take the sample bolt with you and they can match it.
