A long days riding. Felt like I was a tortoise on my trance.
The conditions were perfect and I had no mechanicals.
Walked alot of hills to prevent cramps and kept eating regularly.
Just before Wingello I was sure I would quit. Then I got to transition and like some kind of robot filled my water and ate, couple of painkillers and back on the bike after a little lube from the Shimano Van.
I actually rode more of the last stage than I did in the second half of the 2nd.
I made it up broke back mountain and through all the rock garden ridge.
Got to the finish, found my meal voucher I figured it was too late to use it, then packed up, slept in the car for 40mins, then back home.
First Fling was nothing less than expected, the rumors and horror stories were true.

Well done for sticking it out. By the time entries go on sale for next year the pain will be a distant memory. After a few beers one night you'll find yourself on the web signing up to do it all again Smiling

Talk about toughing it out, that is dedication. In some ways I think it is harder for people like yourself that take 8 - 10 Hours to finish as that is a hell of a long time on the bike.

Well done though, great effort.

Well done!

There is little doubt that after so long out there it sure makes crossing the finishing line all the more rewarding.

Be careful as this kind of suffering is easily forgotten and can be very addictive..
