Details:

Capital Punishment is the mountain bike enduro that takes in Canberra's best single track. It includes a 50km and 100km options. This is the only time you can link it all together - Kowen Forest, Majura Pines, Black Mountain and Mt Stromlo.

It is not too hilly and if it is dry it is fast and fun! There is the festival at the finish which includes jumping castles and a kids race. And to top it all off there is the After Party and Presentations at the Crowne Plaza.

Done a few 100k events, but this will my first CP. Heading down this arvo. Forecast looks good.

I was planning a 'smooth taper' - but I strained my shoulder late last week and have been off the bike for a week now - over tapering there I think!!

I'm racing with number 249 (white Rumblefish 29er) if anyone see's me, say hi! (I'll be with a mate how has a Scott Spark RC - it has white tyres so you'll s pot him easily!!)

... that sucked! A great day out mired by mechanical issues. I guess it was my turn after being issue free for the last couple of years. Rear shock gave out at the 15km mark leaving me with 100% sag for the rest of the race. Lowered bottom bracket led to a number of accidental pedal strikes, one of which jammed one of the clipping mechanism, allowing me to clip in, but making it extremely difficult to unclip. Impossible to tell which side of the pedal i'd clipped into until unclipping.

Managed to limp the remaining 85kms but in a pretty shocking time. Altogether just disappointed, but i guess that's mountain biking. One chap in front of me at the ~17km mark (I was still swearing after my shock had gone) had a stick go straight through his rear derailleur, so i could have had worse!

Fantastic single track though - really impressed by Kowen. Great crowd as well a few stopped to try and offer advice on the shock situation, but there wasn't much to be done!

Did anyone go to the presentation at the Crowne after the race? If so, what was it like?

I went to the presentation Brian, didn't really know anyone there and there was no presentation by 7.30pm so I left and went to bed early.
There were finger foods and drinks
