Frameskin

Has anyone used Frameskin or some other such product on their frame or fork? Not just the little round cable rub patches, but the long lengths of stuff that go on the top tube, down tube etc?
Is it worth doing?

You should certainly put something on your bike to stop cable rub. The product mentioned is a bit pricy isn't it?
Most motorbike shops sell film meant for covering headlights which is much cheaper and does the same job.
I run frameskin on my Remedy.
I think its worth it. It was handy to have the shape mostly correct rather than just buying tape and trying to fit it.
3m make a product, comes in 3" wide rolls, I have been using it for years. It's main application is in aircraft leading edge tape. Give Aviall at Bankstown airport a ring to find how much a roll is. I will see if we have any at work and grab you some if we do. It comes in black or clear.
JP I have some clear at work, let me know if you want some and I will cut some for you.
JP, It's been great on my carbon roadie - protects the frame well. Check the frameskin website..that's my black 2009 roubaix in the photos!
I was thinking about it for my Epic, but decided against it..too many places around cables, on tight corners of the frame etc, and the nature of the MTB means it will still get scratched through in the (far too) frequent trees, rocks, crashes, etc. One of my other riding buddies did use the framewrap on his DH bike swingarm and it works well!
That would be good thanks Char. Is there enough for the top and down tubes?
Ill see what i can do. JP i have got plenty for your new steed. Give me a call, you could swing pass on your way home one day, I can leave in my letterbox.
Sounds good mate. Let me know what day and I'll zoom past.
I will put in today.
Cool, I'll swing by in the morning.

Are you coming twice
Thanks for that Char. Any application tips before I go stuffing it up?
Cut to desired length and shape, round off corners.
Do not touch the adhesive side with your skin as it will loose adhesion.
Start at one end, rub down with hands to avoid trapping air bubbles.
Once on frame give a good solid rub over with a clean rag to give a good adhesion.
