I'm planning on getting a seat dropper post. Any recommendations? What have you tried and what do you have to say about it?

Thanks.

The KS Lev gets the vote for best - Gilbo's got one in the xmas stocking apparently
They're exxy but should be fine for a swingin young bachelor like yourself

Specialized ones are good (got mine for $200 - bargain)

The giant ones seem good as well

Crank bros seem to be rubbish - not sure on the new Kronolog tho'
And Rock Shox reverb seems to be 50/50

You good for Sunday 9.30 - will save me texting you Sticking out tongue

everybody goes straight to the LEV ... and completely ignores the bread and butter posts for KS

Dropzone $270 remote
Supernatural $320 remote

These are the competitors to Reverb IMO and far better value and price.

The difference really is weight and actuation.

LEV = static ... everything else = dynamic
LEV = ~ 540g ... Supernat = 580g ... Dropzone = 640g ... reverb is 560g from memory
The weight difference is due to the saddle clamp head

the draw back to the dynamic actuation (cable moves with saddle) ... isn't the moving cable IMO ... its the exposure of the actuation point to the elements ... The biggest issue with the Dropzone and Supernat is that the actuation point under the saddle collects mud and dust ... which given most people look at their post maybe once every 8months or so ... means it gets gummy and the remote finds it hard to trigger the post to move ... its a simple fix of just cleaning the puppy ... but you sometimes need to take the saddle off and brush the solidified gunk out. or better after every ride when you wash your rig ... just run a light stream of water over the saddle clamp to dislodge any accumulated gunk, before it has time to build up and harden.

For the LEV ... its not just the static actuation ... but its enclosed ... no more needing to worry about hardening mud ... but there is a cost ... the LEV needs more frequent re-lubrication (ie slicko) ... just on the seals and above the DU to keep it nice and smooth ... its more frequent because you ideally should smear only a thin amount on ... but instead of monthly for the other posts ... I'd recommend every couple of rides just to keep the seals slick... and all posts should be relubed after wet rides. (not that any of us ride in the wet).

My best tip if you are a first time buyer is to get some slickoleum 8oz tub will last you several seasons $19.95 (compared to $40 something for the same stuff called something else Smiling) ... every brand of post can do with a quick smear of slicko above and under the seal caps.

Finally I hear the distro for KS is very active in obtaining trails for NSW ... does it all as a volunteer ... all their products are priced competitively ... considering he has to pay GST and shipping ... and his local support is pretty well regarded.

Al hooked me up with a KS Supernatural Remote, and I love it, works brilliantly. I have run into for about 2 months and I am super happy with it, good price and easy to instal and use.

I'm running a Rockshok reverb and loving it.

What ever you go with I highly recommend a handlebar remote over a seat lever! Last thing you want to be doing is taking a hand off the steering to adjust your seat.
