Final stage of Narrabeen Lagoon Trail under construction - NO ACCESS

There has been some new signage put up in the last few weeks about construction commencing by Warringah Council & Cromer Golf Course to complete the final link in the Narrabeen Lagoon Multi-Use Trail loop.

It has always been possible to ride/walk the Narrabeen Lagoon loop through the NSW Sports Academy & Cromer Golf course, but as of 17/12/12, the gates have been locked & new high fencing put up to prevent access. The new signs state that this is due to the area now becoming a construction site, & will not re-open till mid 2014... bugger!

They have not provided any alternative access arrangements in the interim.

I understand that the initial construction involves Cromer Golf course re-aligning their 15th hole away from the foreshore so that the new trail can use this alignment.

Was hoping to get an overweight mate on a bike around there, that's a major pain. Dept of Sport & Rec has never been happy about having to give people access to their land. Sad

Yeah, I've always thought that it was ironic that the Academy of Sport & Rec have always been opposed to allowing the general public access to their land for sport & recreational purposes...

Although, seriously their concern has always been that of "Stranger Danger" for the school groups that they have staying there in overnight camps.

Get your mate out there anyways and pretend you didnt know.

By the sounds of it an "Out and Back" ride wouldnt be too bad an idea for him.
