Definitely keen for this one. Will have to get myself in a team though.
i plan to do the 100km, dont really want to have the hassle of camping and all the associated gear.
Plan is, get there between 9 and 10am sat morning, find other nobmobbers camping area, dump my chair and esky and then ride, hopefully not be too slow, finish between 6.30 and 8pm (couple laps at night), then crawl back to car and go home.
I will be taking the cyclocross bike also for a few laps for something different and to mix it up a bit (if course is suitable)
Don
I have decided to go solo for the 2nd time in this race, and intend to beat last years effort of 25 laps (250km & 2nd place) in 21h 15mins, my target this year is 28 or 29 laps so I have started on my 100 days of training I started on boxing day and have ridden every day since, I'll also be 8kg lighter by race day, anyone wishing do longish rides in the Blue Mountains let me know and we'll plan a ride, I'll also do some very long road rides if any ones keen on that.
John.
like the mont ... as in are they teams of six etc?
sounds like fun to me - in a team that is - a FUN team....
Yes, they have teams of all sizes, for men, women & mixed.
John.
ill be up for a team thingy. pick me! pick me!!!
you be overcome by the competitive edge or will you be there for fun or a bit of both?
i would like to be in a team of six if anyone can put up with my oh so sunny 'just woken up' nature!! ha!!!!
love the night riding....
I'll happily join your team Christine
I'm thinking about it, but need a leave pass first!!!!!!
Bernd
I would like to do this in a team of 4 or more for the 12 or 24hr otherwise I will do the 100k option any teams out there I can sign up with?
im in and paid for the 100km, hope to see lots of nobmobbers there
Don
This will be good practice for the Dirtworks. At least with this one, if i'm buggered i can just pull out at 50 km...
But at Dirtworks, i'd be f^&ked!!
Will see you all there camping before it starts i assume?
Cheers,
Lance.
i am thinking a team of sizx which buck has kindy said he will be in and I am waiting to see if Bernd and Stuart can come away for a weekend however! IF you are super competitive it may not be for you - not to say we won't try it's just that we will be having fun at the same time...
MEEEE
I would love to join your team you can definitely put me on the list.
As far as the racing part goes I am serious about riding hard and having having fun at the same time. I do a lot of riding and training but that is so I dont have to suffer when I do these long races. I only get competetive when I ride the single speed but I plan to leave it at home and ride the geared bike.
If you can put up with me Chiic. I'm still a maybe.
Ev
hear from Bernd and Stuart...
come on you two - get a pass out it will be fun!!!
had 2, two, on the wend!!!
Bernd
I am hoping to come along and take pics of you mugs if i can get away.
had you been on the home brew before posting that or are you speaking in a secret language or am i being super-blonde because i dont understand...?
MEEEE
translate for you.
Bernd is attempting to say that he had 2, yes thats right, two passouts last weekend.
That said, there is every chance that he had indeed been on the home brew as well.
I thought he meant that he passed out twice on his home brew on the weekend
you r all right!! I had a good wend.....
Bernd
You had 2 homebrews and two more on Wednesday? Right?
John
..Wednesday was good, sorry guy's!!!!
Bernd
Just got an email from Bright Orange Events organisers...
Apparently there's not enough entrants so they have cancelled... looks like we'll have to organise our own pre-Dirtworks enduro training.
Cheers,
Lance.
That's a bugger, was looking forward to that one. Website says entries are on hold so I wonder if they will change their minds?
is that would only happen if a couple of hundred people emailed Bright Orange wanting to enter, the entries this year were too low to cover the costs of the race which I don't understand why, as I've had a great time there in the previous 3 years and I would have to say it was my favourite race, so why don't more people do this Sydney 24hr rather than the Canberra ones?
John.
IMO the fact that there isn't a definitive closing date for entries lends itself to the scenario whereby ppl only need to commit closer to the event.
Taken from the NZo 24 site:
If organisers need to obtain 'X' entries a month and a half before the actual event, is it not wise to have the standard cut-off around that time? I don't mean to be harsh, but this kind of 'hope and pray' approach only creates more frustration for riders; sponsors and the organisers themselves.
I'm all for the 3 tier entry fees i.e. early bird; std & late but shouldn't they be declared up front ($ values)?
Just my thoughts...
Looks like there has been a bit of demand after the race got called.
Discussions are underway to put on something for those who had entered. It wont be the same and it probably wont be a Dargle but it will be something fun.

unfortunately it doesn't seem to work unless you have a silly late fee.
Last years State DH at Lidsdale was $40 pre entry $70 on the weekend ($30 late fee) with no entries taken race day Sunday.
We had 220 riders, 170 pre entries, 100 of whom entered the day they closed, and 20 people turn up ont he Sunday trying to enter.
Another example Newtons Play Ground, online entries close this week Skate boarding, Luge, BMX all had complete entry lists ready and published last week. MTB entries only just started coming in.
I'm half keen for this - who's doing this one? Christine - how many in your team??
Andrew
PS will be bringing two bikes...
I am still intrested in a team entry if its still possible.
crap, i entered for the 100km, i was going to use it as a good hit out before the dirtworks to see what level i was at.
oh well, hope they have something else to replace it
