Do you need lights for this ride? 7pm should still be quite light depending on how long the ride is

Burt's picture

Know there will be no moon? It's full tomorrow, being Sunday which makes next week very dark at night...

Hans

Your record as the rainmaker is remarkable!

What trails do you guys plan on riding? And an estimate of how long it will take?

Hans's picture

Hi Jamey;
- we are riding Perimeter and Long Trail, 10km round trip, all on fire trail, mostly level.
Duration is approx 70 minutes at social pace - we make sure you can keep on the Unicycle.... Eye-wink

unicycle6869's picture

That sounds perfect and like a lot of fun. If the weather is ok I might try and meet you guys if that's cool. I think I can keep up with my geared uni and ayup lights. But if I can't I don't mind if you guys go ahead and then I'll just turn around when you guys come back around.

paulmnewman's picture

But am a total newbie. Put me as a tentative?

Just wanted to thank everyone for welcoming a one wheeler into the group. I had a great time and hope to do another social ride with you in the near future. As bikes are usually much faster and there aren't too many unicyclists to ride with it was nice riding with a group.

Also, if any of you thought that it looked like more fun on one, it's really not that hard to learn. Google Northern Beaches Unicycle Club. We meet every Monday nights from 6-9pm in Curl Curl. We teach people how to ride and have spare unicycles. Just show up! For the last hour we play unicycle hockey which is a blast. Anyone is welcome to join us! Cheers.

What is everyones method for keeping their bike safe whilst eating?

I have a Thule lockable roof rack, but I'd still never leave it alone for longer than 20 seconds. YouTube will surprise you.

Hans's picture

Hi Chris

So far so good. As far as I know there have not been any bikes taken from cars. They usually get locked with the rack (or additional cable locks), or placed inside the car, or even parked inside the beer garden/outside eating area. They are usually also within clear sight of our table. Potentially it's our posse of a dozen dirty, noisy (angry) looking MTB'ers that acts as a deterrent. Eye-wink

Also make sure to include your bike as portable item in your home and content insurance - that way they are covered.

chrischris's picture

I'm definitely keen to join you guys in the future. The catch is that I often finish work at Wahroonga at 7pm. Sometimes I get off work early. I'm always keen for a night ride. Twice the fun in the dark!

All of my favorite rides have been at night.
