We are currently monitoring a big front that is supposed to hit the NSW east coast on Thursday or Friday. It has the potential to drop a lot of rain onto the track at Awaba. If there is only little rain we will race but we won't in trail destroying downpours. We know how much work goes into that track and won't race in coditions that will damage it.
If this front really hits we will most likely postpone the race by 1 week to Saturday, March 2. On Wednesday we should be able to make a call on it and will communicate it on our website, via facebook and send an email to all registrants.

Thanks for the update.

Its awesome you guys are proactive and thinking ahead and planning in advance.

Great to see the professionalism in your organisation.

The forecast hasn't changed and we will postpone the race by 1 week! The new date is Saturday March 2.

If you are already registered we will automatically transfer your entry and you don't need to do anything. If you can't make it to the new date please send us an email to [email protected] before this Tuesday and we can transfer your entry to Round 2.

Thanks Dicko for your comments! I hate moving dates but with outdoor events it's part of the job and great to see that it's appreciated.

With over 1.5m of rain over the weekend we are glad that we made the right decision last week and hope to get it right again this week.

We are racing on Saturday but changed the location to Ourimbah.

There is more rain forecast for Thursday but not nearly as much as last weekend. Ourimbah only needs about half a day to dry out.

Shimano MTB GP Round 1 weather update:

The Good News: fire danger will be low and we are racing!
The Bad News: bring your mud tyres and mud guards - you will need them.

We did our best to prepare the track and dug as much drainage as possible. However the forecast has changed over the last few days and we are expecting the front to linger all day Friday and into early Saturday.

Time to have some fun with herodirt. The trail holds up very well in wet conditions and we are working together very closely with the local club, CCOMTB, and will be out there after the race to fix potential damage to the trail which we expect to be minimal due to our previous race experience there.

This is how we spent yesterday:
