why was the downhill trail shutdown? and is there any hope of getting it back?

Like I said in the other post, there was environmental (both erosion and impacts on Flora/Fauna) issues with the trail. State Forest requested it be shut down and the club worked with State Forests to open the Amazon trail, with was later moved to the current monkey trail at Awaba.

The Heaton State DH trail is now on National Parks land, so it is unlikely that the trail will be reopened. The club has moved on and doesn't need to for racing and logistically the trail is a nightmare to run events on.

Riding wise, it is a massive trek from the bottom to the top (well over 30mins by car) and pushing up it really isn't an option.

Is there any hope of getting it back, I'd say no its unlikely. The club won't pursue it given the trails history, and I severely doubt NPWS would even consider reopening it.

Not really, its closure opened up other opportunities for what turned out to be a far better and more accessible trail.
