Hi All

Sorry about joining just to ask questions, but thats how you learn right!

I was put onto you guys as having a few Tandem bikes around the club...

The missus and I went for a ride on a tandem bike over the weekend and loved it Smiling (she is visually impared and has never rode a bike before)
We put about 100kms on the bike and did a bit of gravel and single track on the way, and really enjoyed that part!

We were on a Canondale with rigid forks and 26x2" road tyres and apart from still getting used to it, it seemed to go alright Smiling

Now we are hooked and need to buy a bike, so im looking for any info that anyone can give us on tandem bikes!

We were thinking of something like this one http://www.mtbtandems.com/fd_tandem_models.html

Basically wanting to hear from anyone who has ridden one offroad and any tips they can give us about what to buy!

Thanks in advance Smiling

Hi John.

There is only one Tandem due in BMORC, Stephen and I (he is also visually impaired). I have done some research on Tandem 29ers and 26ers. The Fandango ones are your best bet for a good quality dually or HT. Flick them an email for costing. Delivery to Oz was around the $650 mark. You could also look at the following links.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Thanks Muninjitsu

We have been looking at the fandango HT (just waiting on a reply to our email) seems to be the best bet at this stage

Ive had a chat to the guy at pegasustandems and they are really road orientated, they will custom build a brumby to ad a front shock, but not really designed for it

I havent seen the msc bikes zion.. that looks interesting and i will send them an email too to see what they are about

Thanks for the help and ill let you guys know how we go!

I meet two other local guys riding a blue Apollo tandem mtb bike on the Oaks in April last year.

Their bike is different to the one on the Apollo web site as it has a suspension fork and mtb tyres etc. Maybe they modified it themselves.
