This bike has been a while in the (dream) making...

I realised that the 29er fad wasn't probably a fad... so I started looking for a carbon hardtail. And then I saw Brian's bike posted on this site and was immediately taken by what a superb looking machine that it was.

.... so when a frame came on Ebay at a bargain price.. I hit the buy button.

And then the frame sat there ... for a number of months. Slowly but surely the remainder came together... now 5 months later - here it is!

Thanks to Brian for the advice and Gazza for the bargain saddle.

Special thanks to Jordan and Cam at Ride In Workshop at Balgowlah for putting it all together and advice about parts etc (and for setting it up tubeless!)

Details:

Agogo carbon frame - large - 19"
Reba RL dual air fork (100mm)
CB Cobalt 2 XC race wheelset
XT groupset all round (2 x 10)
CB carbon bars
CB Cobalt grips
CB seatpost clamp
Thomson X4 stem
Easton EC70 seatpost
Fizik Tundra 2 saddle
Maxxis Ignitor tyres.

Now to enter the Convict 100....

Now you've gotta get training and do it justice!

Very nice.

Has you hit the trails on it yet? You'll be blown away by how fast they are.

NIce build you've done there,I like alot except the saddle. The fizzik tundra 2 came standard on my 2012 x1 29er anthem and it was uncomfortable on the longer rides

Nice set up - Curious as to the weight as it stands.

Agree re the saddle - but such a personal thing so hope it suits you. Would suggest keeping an eye on the seat post been some probs with some.

... ended up being about 4 hours - up thru the front side of the Dam, thru F, Forest Way, Cascades (ss and lower cam, back and back half of Dam and then home) ... so I got a good feel for the bike with this variety of terrain.

Strengths are clearly fire trail and ss. Didn't like the rocky stuff (felt like I was on a bucking bronco but that's what 5 years of riding duallies will do to u). Climbing was an absolute forte (limited only by the pilots lack of fitness). Don't like the 38/26 front rings. They will have to go ... 40/28 on one of my other bikes is much more flexible.

V surprised by how nimble it felt.. Didn't feel like a captain sitting on the bridge. Only by looking over the front wheel could I actually tell I wasn't on a 26er.

.... I can now understand why so many have jumped on the 29er bandwagon!

Thank for the comments guys. I actually like the tundra 2 - have one on each of my 3(?) bikes.

The weight? Dunno.. Don't have a set of scales but I suspect it is around 10 to 10.5kg.

Ps: just entered the Convict 100... This is certainly the bike for it Smiling

Sexy!

entering the convict and you wa nt a 28 on the front? if you can ride that first hill in 28, then fitness sure isnt a problem

nice bike though - wish my back would survive a HT in the rocks
