Where to ride around Lithgow
Hey guys I have a few days coming up in Lithgow and I'm keen to ride a few different trails, preferably single track.
Rydal - I'm pretty sure I will ride there due to the ease of the trail (the boy will like that).
Hassans Walls - The videos I've seen of Hassans Walls look good, but I'm not sure what the best trails are? I ride a 6" travel bike so a bit of rough descending is great but I also like XC.
Newnes/Newnes Plateau - What is the pick of the single track in Newnes/Newnes Plateau? And are the Enduro Loops XC Enduro or Gravity Enduro?
Lidsdale - What's the current status of the Lidsdale trails, I'm not sure how old the syndicated trail info is and it says that due to logging the trails have been wiped out??
Any info would be greatfully appreciated
Cheers Aaron

Yep... the old Lidsdale pine forest tracks are gone.
They have Tuesday night XC races at Rydal if you are around then.
I'm pretty sure the Newnes plateau tracks are XC Enduro... possibly meaning motor bike tracks? Maybe there's something there I don't know about though? There's a very pretty ride near the glowworm tunnel descending from Newnes Plateau to newnes itself, you'd have to ride back up or have a big car shuffle.
I'll let the Lithgow guys clarify and give you more details.... If you ever want info about Orange then I can give you all the details you need
Newnes is mostly trailbike enduro type trails. Think ruts, drops and loose rocks. If your staying in Lithgow than you'll want to drive to the top of the plateau. The run out to Glowworms is quite long and you'll need to walk some of it as the trails are walkers only running down to the tunnels.
Mt York is a good bet. 20 mins (there abouts) to drive there, than choose from Lawson's or Lockyers, or any number of side tracks.
Hassan walls is nice and close to town, plenty of trails up there, most of the good runs are on strava. Just explore the area using the app.
Check with the club before using pony express as its one of those trails where we need to keep the land managers happy.
Rydal is a great place to work on your cornering tech. As well as the xc race track there's miles of trailbike track over the whole area. The Ctmbc dose xc racing tuesday nights 6pm sign on 6:30 start with a BBQ afterwards.
There is some good stuff up on newnes but it can be hard to find. The all mountain free Ridey stuff is mostly over grown.
The is some stuff left at lids dale but not enough to make it worth the stop. Rydal has the club track plus hundreds of hectares riddled with fire road and Moto trails to explore.
Hassans has about 13 trails coming off it. They mostly start gentle and get steep and rough. Each is fairly short say between 5 and 15 min but its an easy ride up and hooking 2 or 3 into a loop is good.
As Barnsie said mt York is cool too. The picks I. A six inch travel bike are down Lockyers or coxs and up either laws on or Lockyers.
