My team mates and I got the email through today. I haven't done it before and was really looking forward to having a weekend away and the first camping trip with my young bloke and his mate. I can't believe it, how many 8 hour races are out there on full single track for $45?
If you know where to look than yes it was promoted, not heavily though. I suppose this is how they can keep the entry fees affordable. It also falls in school holidays which probably doesn't help
Sponsored by Jet Black, Merida, HMBA, and Ted's Bike Shop. It was also on the Flow calendar of events so got me F'd why there was a lack of interest. Last year close to 200 riders including Mr English....this year squat

I think the reason for lack of numbers was it clashed with the James estate 4/7 hr
The other race is a series so for lots of people that takes precedence - I can think of at least 20 people who will be at James estate but would have gone dungog if they could
was the best race I did last year. The atmosphere with the local cover band belting out the tunes, Rotary club $8 spag bol dinner, b & E roll breaky, the 14" wheel racing under lights. Plus the camping looking over Dungog and Barrington tops, the 10km of flowing single track, awesome race. I was the first to sign up again. This could of been better supported by the HMBA, considering they use this track as part of yearly racing schedule. It is a sad day when a well organised well sponsored race, in a fantastic location. Is cancelled due to the lack of rider numbers. Great race, great track, great location sign me up for next year.
I wonder how many people were intending to enter in the final week before the event?
I know several people who were intending to do both the Rocky Trail James Estate event and the Dungog event - would have been a perfect double header.
Serious???
This was one of the best events I've been to. Shame.

Was it promoted at all? This is the first I've heard of this years race.

Fingers crossed that the Paterson 8hr is a raging success then. A little closer to Newcastle & Sydney.
Also, Paterson is on private land & this may be the only chance to ride this great track this year. A real test of ones MTB skills!
They should have put an ad for it on HMBA site like they did last year.
1st I've heard of the race and I would have possibly turned up in school holidays - one of the benefits of having them off.
Was HMBA the organiser?

How many other enduro rides are there in the area for this time of year?
Paterson 8hr
Port Mac 24hr
Any others I've missed? We did meet a bunch a guys who drove down from Port Mac last year. They all enjoyed the weekend too.
Paterson is back end of May. Looking at doing that instead
