Evening folks,

Anyone got/tried the Cobalt 3 or Cobalt 2 wheel set? 29er?

Whats the general opinion on these?

Any suggestions for similar wheels at that price range $650-$950. Must be able to have a 142x12mm Maxle on the rear . . . .

Thanks!

I know i say it all the time but contact Two Wheel Enterprises. I got my 29er wheels built by Greg for the grand total of $899, and they weighed in at 1800 grams with an XX cassette, so 1600 without

Awesome wheels, awesome bloke and to top it off he has an awesome warranty on anything he builds

I've also read reviews (danged if I can find the blog Sad ) where the guy hated the bike (a 29er) ... until he swapped out the CB wheelset for Hope hubs + Stans rims build (if I remember correctly) which completely transformed the bike. It went from being a wet noodle to being quite enjoyable to ride.

I have no direct experience, only passing on what people tell me. Put what weight on that you will...

Getting in touch with them to see what they can do!

I'm happy to explore all options!

Thanks

I used these on my commute for the last two years. Quite liked them. Unfortunately a spoke broke on the rear wheel. It's been at the bike shop for 3 months as they try to sources a spoke. Crank bros distribution of parts is poor. I believe the wheels have some flaws, which means longevity is likely to be an issue too. Wheel from Chain Reaction are usually ace and reasonable priced. I have two sets of Stans ztr on Chris King Hubs and they have proved bomb proof.
Cheers

I haven't checked if these look the same, but I've seen photos on forums before of the eyelet flange cracking off the rim.

Personally I wouldn't spend so much money on something quite that niche, but then again I'd rather have a custom build than a factory build anyway.
