congratulations on the win Ian.
Also like to thank to WSMTB for a well organised club race.

It was a fun race, although i did feel the hardtail beat me up more than usual @ Yellowmundee.
I managed 4th in B grade after a ordinary start from the 3rd row.

Happy with my lap consistency with all 4 laps being within 30 seconds of each other.
I thought i would of faded more by the 3rd/4th lap.

Thanks guys.
I knew I had to make an early run, with Phil Welsh, Big Steve and Dicko there, and use my local track knowledge to get ahead. I was just hoping not to come last at the start of the race but thought I'd have a crack anyway.....
I'll stick with the dually's thanks - much more forgiving.

Again, well done Ian!

Your fastest 18:08 last lap is a great achievement, tack one more of those on the end and you're in the A grade mix!!

Some tall bloke without gears said he was gonna beat me so I had to step up..........

Tell him his dreamin!

Well done, there Wasn't much time difference in the Top 3.

I couldn't see Big Steve but I knew he was coming.
The bloke in 2nd was right on my tail on the last lap at the rock garden after Max's Bridge I think, well someone was anyway. I cleared the climb and then pushed hard through Moto X and down to hidden bridge. I managed to pull away after that.

I failed to clear the rock garden after max's bridge in my practice lap, so decided it was quicker to unclip & carry the bike over that section.
I got 3-4 spots doing that on the first lap as it was a bit of a jam thru there.
Would be good to see how the local quick guys pedal that section.
Ive only seen 1 person make it thru that rock garden without dabbing & that was a mate of mine after multiple unsuccessful attempts.

I briefly caught up with Steve on lap 2 when he was slowed by another rider in front. we both got past on the fireroad climb.
I managed to hang on to Steve ( only just ) up to the power lines, but lost contact on the descent to Max's bridge.
His descending skills thru that section are much better than mine.

after that he was gone & i never caught back up. i just ran my own race keeping a safe gap to the riders behind.

I rode the rock garden 3 out of the 4 laps. When you get it right it feels really easy, but it is hard to get the line right when trying to go too fast. In the 4hr series I walked it most laps just to save the effort.

It was great racing on Sunday - the track and the weather were just superb!

Hope to see you all at Blue Gum Lodge for Round 6 on 4 August - see www.wsmtb.com for revised race schedule.

Already booked in for Singletrack mind that day.

And two weeks of no racing after both of them?
Big shame! Sad
