Suitable trail for today ?

Morning all, looking for people's suggestions on a good trail to ride with my 10 year old son.

He has an really unsuitable bike in the form of a Giant DH Comp. He's used to pushing it up hill, he's ridden OMV, Jubes, North Turra, part of Manly Dam and two trails off north head road.

Looking for less uphill, more level and downhill, dont mind it rough, I appreciate a lighter bike would help, he's very attached to it, and dreams of adding a little electric assistance......we'll see........

Please let me know if you have suggestions of trails for today?

We are in Wahroonga so the area of Northern Sydney and Beaches ideally.

Thanks

Ben

Head up to Perimeter and Long trails. Enter either from the end of Echunga rd behind the school or the end of Cullamine rd. Both trails are relatively level with the odd short climb. I take the kids up there as they are a good ride.

They're pretty easy to navigate. From the end of Echunga take the dirt track and you'll find a gated fence. Follow the trail for a couple of hundred meters onto the fire trail and continue along with the golf course on your left. The next big intersection in a few kms is Long trail. Turn right and it's a nice out and back ride to the lookout. The Cullamine entry puts you onto Perimeter trail closer to the Long trail intersection and is an easier ride.

Enjoy. Smiling

Why not take him to a dh trail to make the most of his DH bike (If DHing is not an option then trading for a more appropriate bike would be preferable to adding electric assistance. There is enough confusion with greenys about dirt bikes without them seeing push bikes with motors zipping around our trails)

Ourmibah would be a good start. Bit of stuff up in the bluies that would suit too

Another vote for Terrey Hills. Perhaps a bit boring (fire road) but nice views at the end.

And another vote for a more appropriate bike. Might be hard to separate it from Mr !0yo though - they do get attached. Eye-wink Something to do with the gnarly cool factor and his mates at school.

You can also ride Cowan Trail, even though the greenies have removed the sign that says bikes are allowed. A bit more technical.

Thanks guys, took Perimeter and then all the way to the end of the Long Trail.

We started late 15:30, the boy coped well on the DH Comp, pushing up on a few hills. Lovely views with some nice little runs, amazing sun set last night.

Polar Iphone heart rate app suggested we did 12.9Km in total and burned 1545 calories (seems abit high).

We will be trying a DH trail soon for sure,

Thanks for your info.

Two tracks, both are very much gravity.

They undoubtedly have some BIG features, but the left hand track is all rollable and has B lines.

PM me if you want more info.

Hi Matt are you talking about a DH track? Can you let me know the location you are suggesting ?

Thanks
