Pre-Dirtworks Sleep?
Sleep? I'm yet to get a decent night's kip before any of the Dirtworks. I end up laying in my tent knowing I must get a decent rest but somehow that never happens.
No that I'm trying to make you nervous or anything!
I don't suppose it much matters when you're crawling up climbs on Womerah Ridge anyhow.
All that said - if anyone wants to share rental house/cabin/etc. close to St Albans think I'd be in that!

after this weekends first rehab ride since cast off and wires out, and counting the ride-able days between now and then, I am not so sure 100 was a great idea... and now kiwigirl is in a cast as well (sigh)
it is a truly sad thing what 8 weeks out of the saddle does to one.

if at first you don't succeed, try not to look astonished.
i had two or three guinness's the night before dirtworks and slept like a baby and although i only did the 50km i was very pleased with my time and performance. as long as you dont dehydrate yourself i cant see the problem of one or two especially to calm the pre race verves. sorry rob, not good advice for you as the yeast is beast with you!
i'd also be up for a cabin rental but i reckon we've got buckleys! i suppose even 10km's out of st albans is still a lot closer than sydney and there's no hassle of setting up and knocking down camp.
...VW that is, is the answer!!!
I will sleep like a baby in my VAN and may have a beer as well.
look forward to the dworks.
Rob, should I brew a "Special" beer with less yeast for the event?
Bernd
vors sprung durch technic as they say in Germany eh Bernd?
"shoot him" as they'd say in scunthorpe to a bloke who cant drink beer eh Rob?
...is s cunthorpe ??? and who can't drink beer, Gazza ?
Prost.
Bernd
i'll forgive you because you're german mate but rob, due to gramatical errors i think you should delete bernd's last comment! its a large town where rob's from in the uk bernd.
it must be a grammatical error, I agree.
This would not happen, if we had a spellllll check on this gr8t web page.

Last year I had trouble sleeping, not because of nerves, but because some locals came home around midnight and turned the stereo on in their caravan. I tried to go back to sleep but sound of 80's power ballads was too much so I went and knocked on their door only to find them passed out and snoring. In the end I followed their extension cord back to where they were getting power and turn them off! I heard them figure it out in the morning and turn the power back on saying "shit that's loud" once the music started again.
I must pack ear plugs this year (and have an extra beer).
I've booked at the Del Rio Resort (I've stayed there before and I think "resort" might be a bit of a stretch). It's very basic but a nice spot and not too far from St Albans. It's on the Hawkesbury at Wiseman's Ferry. Just go to www.delrioresort.com.au if you are interested. I've booked 2 nights for the wife and kids and will make a weekend of it.
Hi, I'm wondering if are we going to descend on the camping area en mass the day before the race or not? with 41 NoBMOB riders attending it could be fun.
If its dry I will be camping and plan on getting there about midday if its wet I will be driving up early Sunday morning.
As I am only doing the 50 I will be driving up in the morning.
I was just checking the map of camping areas for the Dirt Works race and see that there is a lot of different spots to camp. I haven't done this race before and wondered if the further away camping sites are quieter or not? Also if a number of us are camping then we should select a spot now to meet, this being made more difficult due to no mobile phone coverage in the area.
Cheers John.

For all those like me, wondering when we would get sent a final info pack its now available to download from the maxadventure site.
Apologies to those that were already aware of this but I know from conversations with others I'm not the only that's been waiting for an email.

Is anyone else driving up the morning of the race or am I the only crazy one. I am thinking I will need to leave at 5am to get there by 7:30am
