Shimano XT Brakes

I need some help/advice.
I plan on ditching my Avid Elixir 9 brakes (pain in the butt) for some Shimano XT's, which rotors do i need to buy & that will stop best, apparently there are 2 types, RT86 Ice Tech XT/Saint or RT76 XT. Your advice on both would be appreciated. Also, do i replace rotor sizes as per original sizes, and do i need new adapters front & rear? These are going onto an all mountain Trek Slash 8.

No rotors.
I've been looking on eBay and CRC.
They come in at around $215+
Yours for $200
Pick up in Mosman.

you need to also work out if your rotors are 6 bolt or centre lock.

I have had both Ice Tech rotors and XT two-piece rotors and for me the Ice-Tech lacked bite compared to XT. I honestly wouldn't spend the extra money on them - XT worked better for me with the new XT brakes and are cheaper.

Hey mate, I have just done the same and am going to use my existing Avid rotors for now, or hope to at least.

There is a thread on Rotorburn about it. I have a 180mm rotor up front so hoping I can use the same adapter.

Only use Magura Storm or Storm SL rotors, with all my brakes including new XT trails. I use the 180mm front and rear , as i like to go down hill fast. Cheap to compared to Shimano. You get get them for around $25Au each if you look on line at a certain large USA company.

My bike runs 200mm rotors up front & 180mm rear.

when i got a set of 2011 xt brakes i kept my new 200mm avid g2 rotors on,no alignment issues or rubbing etc, bedded in like normal, they are initially grabby much like avids but have a nicer feel and reliability, cant help but think that they would feel smoother with shitmano rotors though
