Does anyone have any recommendations for the best 26" tyres to use for the Fling? Thanks.

[Mod. moved to Southern Highlands as that is where the Fling is run and this is trail specific query]

Which tyre are you using now ? A fast tyre is the best & put a few exta poundsbin them is akays good

Or a similar fast rolling tyre will work well. it's not a very technical course.

Yeah, I was thinking about the Furious Fred, but just worried about puncture risk. I am currently running some very grippy 2.35 width tyres, which I think are totally unsuitable for the Fling (although I used them last year).

How do I know how thin a tyre my rims can hold? I notice there is a 2 or 2.25 width Furious Fred and am wondering about the 2....

I'll be running the Maxxis Ikon F&R tubeless, quite fast and light and at a nice price. Good grip on the hardpack but gets out of it's depth in the loose stuff but that shouldn't be a problem for the Fling

Got to be said, the best tyres to be buying will go on a new 29'er bike. Particularly at the fling.

Your rims should be able to take a 2 or 2.25 width tyre if it's a standard wheel. I often swap my tyres out from 1.95-2.3 depending on the terrain. I haven't done the fling yet but this year will be my first and from what I've read I'll be chucking on some fast rolling 2's. oh, and it'll be on a 26" dually... Who needs a 29er anyway (especially if it means you go quicker so less time on the bike = less fun)

Thanks all. Fast rolling 2's it is then!
